Well, all the good chatter about the 3.1 changes has perked my interests again.

So I am kicking around doing another RAF for WoW but I'm torn between the PvP vs PvE server. I like the serenity of a PvE server but at times I enjoy the fighting of PvP. How is the leveling (questing, not boosting) these days with lvl 80 gankers? How are things on Mag (Horde) for you guys?

For those on PvE servers, how is Wintersgrasp for scratching that itch?

If I had to do it again, I would pick a PvE server. You can still pvp all you want with battlegrounds and WG etc. Nothing pisses me off more than other people wasting my time and PvP server is full of it.

Then again... you cant just kill someone taking your Mining/Herbing nodes either. So make a list... of pro's and cons and go with it :)

I restarted PVE and only miss a few things... but mostly i enjoy it... ... .... ... ... i do miss ganking

I don't get the level 80s hanging around in old world zones, especially in the goblin towns. I have been killed in Gadget, Booty Bay and Ratchet and they just kill the guards as well. I've also been killed in random drive-bys in STV, Un'goro, Alterac Mountains, Tanaris and a few others. Is everyone that bored with Northrend that they are chasing achievements in old world content or just griefing low levels? There are more 80s in STV on my server than people actually leveling. Thank god for reincarnation and thank god I level mostly in instances.

No, the 80's that hang around looking to gank in zones that low are 12 year olds looking to make themselves and their epeens feel better 1 shotting lowbies. These are the same nerdraged childish players who cant beat a player their own level no matter how hard they try. So they gotta vent somewhere lol.

The drive by's you are talking about are just that, More than likely they are in that zone to farm old world trade skill mats and you were in the way. But the 80's that hang out at quest hubs doing nothing but one shotting lowbies they should all DIAF.

Hmn... well I have a few days to decide (spanking new PC inc)... PvE or PvP...

Edit: Did they "fix" the triple exp with a non-linked booster in the group? Or are they planning on doing so?

And so the same old debate begins. I'm constantly ganking in STV, though pretty much only at the arena every three hours. Nothing like killing your own faction members :D (most of them are 80's too fyi). I occasionally gank a lowbie along the way for the lols. Sometimes I gank every horde I see in hopes of getting them all to grab their 80's and form a group. I'm sorry if what I do doesn't fit into your rule book. I keep forgetting wows not just a game.

Now call me 12 and insult my 'epeen'.

Ps: The rest of the time you'll find me ganking groups of horde zoning in/out of ulduar (you should insult me for doing that too :)

I think the reference is to the types that do little more then making a career of harassing lowbies :)

I don't think he was speaking of your style, everyone ganks lowbies at one time or another.

Guess I'm the exception to the rule. Been playing on PvP servers since launch, have leveled up 10 teams to 80 between alliance and horde, and never have killed lowbies. Maybe I'm missing out, but I just can't imagine a rush of joy at having done something that had no challenge whatsoever and only served to waste time (a few seconds of my time, and a few minutes of someone else's time trying to advance themselves in a game I love). Different strokes.

Of course, when I see someone killing lowbies on my side, or if someone is stupid enough to attack me, I go thrash them and maybe even camp them a little bit. I have to admit, killing a known jerk DOES give me that little rush of joy.

Anyway, we'd be happy to have another on Mag. Send any of my toons a tell if you need some starting gold Korruptor.

I think having some folks to support you makes leveling through a PvP server not only more bearable but frankly i think with how fights can escalate it makes a total blast! I should be starting this weekend out on Mag.

About the ganking lowbies: I have, at times, killed folks lower then me and sometimes it was over a resource, sometimes not. If someone gray or not gets into a combat stance and targets me i'll cook 'em but never camp 'em.

Since I play on a PvE server, I'll kill anyone who is unfortunate/foolish enough to be flagged near me if i'm playing my lvl 80 solo lock or my (atm lvl 75) shammies.
Except if I'm vastly outnumbered, or they are lower lvl, or they are trying to fish in Org. Hard enough to get that achievement even without people ganking you.

I too am coming back to boxing after about a 6 month solo tour. I miss the ease of just loading up and taking down instances without sitting in cites or in LFG channel to find groups. Regular wow is just boring after you've boxed it, there's only so much challenge you can get from playing solo toons. A lock putting out 4k+ dps is nice, but not as nice as 4 of them putting out 15,000... 5 shaman totem farms.... writing and perfecting macros... movement controls.... There's just so much the solo player has no concept of. I recently got a monster of a computer that a friend put together for me, q6600, e260 game card, 4 gigs ram, it's a freaking monster. Overclocked, it runs wow at max graphics settings at 70+ fps in Dalaran, where as my dell ran it at 12. No more RAF, but that's OK, I have 5 80's on my main account and 2 are geared out in naxx25 and some ulduar gear, so I have very little to do with them without starting achievements like loremaster or reputations. My locks and priest have been waiting, and I have a lvl 18 tauren shaman team, but I think I'll reroll orc or troll, not sure.

Today, Durotar. Tomorrow, Barrens chat. Next week, who knows.

I had some trouble patching waiting for my accounts to get fixed(at least the hackers upgraded some of my accounts to wotlk) I ended up just downloading the patchs from Filefront ('http://browse.files.filefront.com/World+of+Warcraft+Official+Patches/;1323958;/browsefiles.html') 4 times faster than using the bilzz downloader then just ran the patchs as admin.
