Going from a identical PvP class team to a mixed PvE class team.

I have been thinking about buying my 5th account, so I can 5box a decent PvE team. Problem is that my only two teams so far have been 4 level 59 elemental shaman and 3 level 47 mages (I can't use RAF *sniff*). I'm a bit worried that taking the jump from a team of one class to maybe a team with a tank, healer + 3 ranged dps is a bit much.

I got a computer that can handle a max of 8 accounts + two widescreen monitors, so hardware wise it isn't a problem. Beside that then I got all the basics down when it comes to macro's and teamwork i general.

I'm fairly sure that it'll be a challenge if I decide to go ahead and try it, but on the other side then it's one of the best ways to learn.

Anyone here that tried a jump like this before? Experience is worth everything when it comes to multiboxing (from my point of view). ;)

Roll a death knight tank and join him up with your 4 shaman once he leaves the starting area.

Get used to the DK tanking with 4 ele shaman, then when comfortable with that swap a shaman to resto for harder instances.
I've gone for the resto shaman now in BC instances but you can get away with not swapping till northrend.

The reason for the DK suggestion was the fact you can start him at 55. I would create him on your existing account then transfer him to your new account (although you will need wow, bc and wotlk to do so. Close to Zero downtime for your team is well as you wont have to wait too long to level him.

It's infact a really grand idea, seeing I'm quite used to playing with elemental shamans already. Out of my current 4 accounts, 2 of them got TBC + Wotlk, while the two last only got TBC, so it's doable.

I am going to roll them on an entire new server (once I find out which one), so having a high level to support all the lower level characters would be great. One of the classes I know little to nothing about is Deathknights though, I also kept getting told that prot paladins are the way to go for PvE teams. 8|

What I had in mind was a prot paladin, priest + 3 mages, kinda a normal setup. But a deathknight + 4 shamans would probably be easier, only thing to worry about is the fact that I know nothing about deathknight tanking, but that can be learned. So for now I'll keep that setup as what I'm going to roll, thanks. :)

There are some great posts on this sight on tanking macros and rotations as well as spec advice.
A lot of people prefer a DK over a pally - but they are both very capable.

The shamans are brilliant for instancing. I'm going through outlands at the moment with a team, and it has been great fun.

I'm running with a tank, 3 dps and a healer setup. I'm able to just spam one key after the initial pull by the tank, and throw lightning bolts in to the targets.
The healer just has to top up the tank as I have the shamans all heal themselves for aoe. It really doesn't require a lot of micromanagement.

Prot pallys are definately the easiest to tank with. But for your situation I would try the dk and 4 shams, I would stick with the shams and get used to running dungeons before trying to run a mixed group. With mixed groups it takes alot more micro/macro management to run effectively.

You could try going all melee. The huge advantage melee has over casters is autoattack. Even if your macros aren't great or you miss something, your dude is still hammering away if you get him to attack. Right now I am running 3 pallys and 2 shaman and I just point those puppies in the right direction and off they go.

I have both of those teams, (Pally priest 3x mage and DK/4x ele shaman) and they have a very different playstyle. with Pally priest mage, you have a ton of buffs, but they are all passive, i.e. you just buff up and forget it. The team is very aoe capable, tanking healing and dpsing. Most non elites die with just consecration/holy nova/arcane explosion, single targets are cake too. It's way easier to play DK+ Shaman. You usually play the tank as a "main" so with pallys, its almost too easy, just a /castrandom is good enough for most. With the DK they have more abilities to micro, but shaman dps is easier. Shaman are also nice becuase of the relatively stationary nature, which makes playing a melee tank easy: park the shaman at range, cast totem farm, set D&D, start nuking. just map shaman dps macro to all keys your DK will use, and its practically ezmode. (I kinda cheated and equipped my DK with every piece of socketed gear i could find, even pally gear, and mail gear, and stacked either the +18 or the +24 stam gems, and had around 11,000 HP at lvl 63... That basically means i never need to heal, and just nuke away. I would occasionally do a 4x chain heal, but that was rare. I will probably dual-spec one to Resto, for decursing and fights that work better with more healing than DPS (longer ones) and mana tide totem.

In short, I'd say DK/Sham is way easier, and since you already have 4 lvl 59 shamans, I would just make a DK on an account with wrath, xfer the shaman off of that acct to a new one with at least TBC, and go straight to outland. Better return for your time. I wouldn't dream of leveling 5 toons without raf.

It's RP realm and as such I haven't seen more friendly wow community than here. I'm playing from beta, tried US realms and EU realms and finally ended here. I must must say that most PvP realms (even RPPvP) have much higher number of verbal attackers than RP.
Imagine I've leveled my first team to 64 here and there were just about 5 haters that whispered me negatively (in 12 days played). My second team is now 35 (7 days played) and there were again just two negative reaction in /s. First was "You guys suck leveling together!" :) and second was "multiboxer skum :(" . I play Horde, but I guess Alliance is similar in this, though more populated.
On Horde is just small MB community (me and and another guy with shamans), I've seen aliance multiboxer in Brean Tundra (5 druids), but not sure how many are there.

Also LokNarash I checked out Argent Dawn EU, but I'm not that happy for the full rp servers, but thank you anyways :) I picked Scarshield Legion EU, which is a RP-PVP server, from what I found on their realm forum and such. Then it seems like a good place to start my journey, beside that then I had a old friend there that gave me some starting gold to help me support all the characters.

Hopefully I will get far into the PvE content with my 4xShaman + Deathknight group, but we shall see!
I just got all my addons, UI and macro's set up, so off I go to level!

On Horde is just small MB community (me and and another guy with shamans), I've seen aliance multiboxer in Brean Tundra (5 druids), but not sure how many are there.There's a bunch of us on the Alliance AD EU :)

My mixed team is in my original guild, "Heroes of Old".
There's at least 1 other active MBer, it's probably his 5xDrood team you've seen but he also has a 5xShammy team, both teams L80 now.

Then there's my other guild "Five of a Kind", where you'll find a bunch of 5xShammy teams and more... some active, some a bit on the back burner right now, due to work commitments.

My own Shammy team is taking a rest at 71 as I'm having so much fun with my mixed PVE team but they'll come out of retirement one day and start looking for Hordies to, er, interact with :)
