I love my desk
Finally finished another round of upgrades on my multiboxing set up. This round, added a new PC resting in a sidemount CPU rack on the right side. This new computer matches the performance on the one on the left. Now when my son comes over, he won't have to bring his rig for head to head first person shooters. I left the cables long enough to reach all the way into the adjoining room so he won't cheat and look at my screen anymore
Also added a 7th computer running Windows Home Server, with tons of storage space for all my media, automated back ups and restore services. Upgraded 4 of the 7 to Windows Vista 64 Ultimate, thanks to my TechNET plus subscription. And, replace the middle monitor with a new 24" wide screen, this is really helping out with UI layouts. Everything I own and use is mounted to this Anthro Console desk. I highly recommend it.

It's a little too wide to fit down the hallway, but I can move it into the main room with little effort. It's very easy to gain access to the back side of each computer, all the connections, the networking gear by just rolling it out from the wall. Sure is a big improvement to all the times I've had to crawl underneath a desk to fish a wire in the dark.

Anthro ('http://www.anthro.com/ppage.aspx?pmid=18') is the manufacturer of the desk. It is part of the Fit Console line.

Well that's just not true. My Samsung 305t and 204t are PVA panels.

And what's with the hate?

Very sweet setup. But all I can think about when I see all that is "my god, the heat!". With just my single Dell 730 and dual 24" planels, I already need to start using a fan to keep the room cool. Guess it all depends on where you live too.

I like your setup, sweet Anthro desk.

I was thinking of something like that too until my wife put the kibosh on the idea. Also I wanted more storage space so a traditional desk was more apropos.

I am still so tempted to get this desk though:

The only problem is that I would feel like that geek in SouthPark WoW episode that was "uber l33t".

That and the fact that it's $9000!

I moved this desk into a room that had better circulation than the spare bedroom I had it in. A huge 52" ceiling fan is right over the top. If you move your face too close to the monitors you certainly can feel the warmth however. I switched over to lower wattage gear underneath the desk to avoid heat build up and noise. It helps too that the desk it right by a floor register, that does a great job of pumping out some cold when needed across the backside of all the CPU's.

I've never been too picky on brands. I collect deals that come by at the place I work. I certainly have a lot of crap gear, but it all works, and it didn't set me back too much. I like Dell monitors too. Just never got a great discount on them. For me I never throw anything away and often recycle/re-purpose gear for my hobby. If I bought a complete set up new, all at once, I certainly would have made other choices.

There was an office furniture liquidator that sold off a similar desk, pretty beat up for $1000, said it came out of an airport screening center that was reworked. What I dig is that chair. If you had that desk, you'd HAVE to have the chair..... I should check ebay today... GUH! Now you got me wanting that desk again.

I'm actually considering building one of these desks myself. It would be insanely easy with the equipment I have available, and the materials would be a far cry from $1200.

EDIT: Typo

I've got no skillz to make one myself. But, can say the parts look very easy to replicate, aside from the keyboard lift/hinge thing. Not sure I've seen anything like it at the hardware stores here. The quality from Anthro is very good and solid. I was worried if it could hold the weight of all this junk. So far so good. I am pretty sure if I tried to make something like it, it would wobble and eventually come crashing down.

Seems like when I bought the desk it was a better deal than the current price. I know there was a 40% off sale and free shipping of some sort.

Recently I've run across some really cool pictures of movie fans making their Home Theater rooms into set replicas of Star Wars, Star Trek, and other sci-fi flicks. If I had some building skills, I'd prolly put them to use in adapting my computer desk to fit more into those styles. Can you imagine having a multiboxing setup that looked like you just stepped onto the bridge of an imperial star destroyer or the enterprise?
