So I went to do the following quest: Mystery of the Infinite
http://thottbot.com/q12470

Basically you have an hour glass to put on the ground, protect it from some mobs and at the end fight an elite mob and your done. I dropped the hourglass on my main tank and it gives a buff that makes it so you can't drop another within 40 yards. When it was done, only my tank got credit and I was not looking forward to sitting there 4 more times for my slaves. I put the hourglass on everyone's hot bar and had the 4 slaves all drop them at the same time. It worked, but I was not exactly prepared for the result. It spawned MASSIVE amounts of mobs. So instead of 2-4 mobs. It was 8 to 16 and 4 elites at the end.

I dont know why you would expect anything else.
it's simple math (2-4) * 4 = (8-16)
four hourglasses means four spawns of each of the waves...

There has been a small number of quests where the whole group did not get credit when the main did a mini event, and there has been a number where they did. So far when Ive done 4x mini events at the same time, the game did not spawn or create 4x the content. It just went once and they got credit, This was the first that triggered simultaneous spawning. I did not get 4 extra helpers either, Just one. I attribute my surviving this event to being level 77 and fairly well geared. I do not think I would have lived 4 levels ago and missing half my blues.

Lol, ya I remembered when I did that quest. It got pretty crazy. I think there are a couple quests like that out there, I don't recall which ones though.

Drop the hourglass on toon 1+2 (yes with 40 yards apart)

Second time i did this quest i did it on toon 1 and 2 first the 3,4,5 at the same time.

I did each toon separately and just ate up the 25 mins or so it took to do it all. :P

I liked reading the comments my "Future You"s had to make, anyways. "You're going to be invited to this big party in the future. What ever you do, don't drink the punch!"

I put them all on the hot bar and set them all of was hell of fun facing all those mobs I think I might of lost one, oh wait no I remember my tank did it first then my 4 slaves after I realized that all had to put it down because whole group will not get the credit for it. I thought it was a lot of fun I had no issues with my 4 slaves doing it all at the same time.

I did this quest in three steps, always two toons at the same time until only one was left:

[Hourglass 1] Toon1 ----<<<<----Group ---->>>>-----Toon2 [Hourglass 2]

I loved that one! My groups enjoy the workout. It's possibly my second favorite "omg I'm gonna die this time" mass of mobs, the first being the initial horde of zombies that spawns at the end of Skadi's hallway.

There's one like the Mystery of the Infinite in Tanaris, where you need to use the dowsing rod on the Sandsorrow pond. The sillithids that spawn are pretty beefy and I've wiped there, but I refuse -- yea, REFUSE -- to do it one at a time because the AOE gods are hungry and occasionally demand a sacrifice or five. It's a stupid principle but it's principled all right.

I remember the tanaris quest, but im pretty sure I just had my main do it and they all got credit. I also remember doing it at another time and having it spawn a bunch, But it was only like 2 beetles per go. Not the insane mass like this one did lol!

I just did this now. It baffled me for a second or two, and then I realized what was up. I wish I'd seen this thread. Overall, I'm going to have to pay more attention to what's going on with my other characters than what I have been.
