Hello,
I try to understand if using broadcasting software like multi-box or synergy2 is forbidden by Blizzard. I know that third party programs as “bots” that automates the gameplay are forbidden, but what about software that allow you to control 5 character actions by just pushing one touch?
Ps : sorry for my grammar, I’m a French 3 box multi boxer ^^

Hi Blobi,
Multibox or Synergy are completely legit because you are still controlling the characters to a certain degree. Botting means that you automate the control of a certain char without any intervention from your part. Since you are still sending signals from one keybaord (but just broadcasted to multiple clients/wow screens), you are not botting.
Now - if you program something like Autohotkey to move independently without your intervention (outside the confines of autofollow), then that is bannable.
Hope that helps.
I tend to agree. Botting is letting the computer take control of actions. Some multibox programs COULD be used for botting (although not very well due to their nature) but so can alot of things in life be used for good or evil. It does not mean we should ban everything that could ever be used for evil. Some people use basic automation to help with medical problems for example - people with limited mobility or limited hand function.
I have asked a GM many times (and been reported hundreds) by people who don't understand the differences. I have had programmers come to me and ask me for "the Xzin program" or accuse me that what I am doing is not possible. As I have clearly spelled out in my FAQ, it is very possible. But most people don't think to do what I (and many others of us) are doing - so they react in a knee jerk mannar and accuse us of cheating. I don't use software utilities (other than Synergy for general computer maintainence (not to play as it is unreliable for me)) but as long as YOU are controlling your characters - you SHOULD be in the clear.

ok,
thank you for your replys :)
i just wonder about the consequences of multi boxing.
Before starting I ask a GM and he told me that multi boxing is legal, but the day after, I read a blue post on the official forum about multi boxing that says all third part softwares that automates the gameplay are forbidden, but no GM says if multi boxing is considered like automatism (French GM don’t know anything ^^)
They mean stuff like WoWGlider. Those programs are designed to be "played" by a computer only with no human input.
If you are at the controls then you are fine. If you are half botting and half at the controls (using programs to actually DO things like move around, etc) then you are botting and could be banned.
If you are multicasting to 2+ machines or even just using two keyboards but have to actually PRESS buttons to do anything (even if they are very complicated keybinds, UI mods and in game macros) then you are perfectly fine.
