View Full Version : Do all tremor and cleansing totems pulse togather, regardless of the order they're laid down?

Someone mentioned this but so far I haven't been able to confirm.
In my castsequence macro for totem drops I have char one drop a tremor totem in the first drops, char 2 drop a tremor on the second drop set and char 3 drop a tremor on the 3rd drop -- the idea is that the tremor totems are dropped 1 second apart so instead of a 3 second pulse you get a 1 second pulse.
However, lately when I'm fear bombed (unless the totem just happens to immediately pulse after that) I'll actually run out of the range of the tremor totem and then run for the full duration unless I trinket -- Which leads me to think that they have changed tremor totems to pulse togather regardless of the order they're laid down in -- so even with 3 tremors down in differing orders, they all pulse togather.
Did that change happen or am I just having bad luck?

I know at one point that at least some totems pulsed on when they were dropped, so you could actually benefit from staggering them out. However, I thought I read some Blizz notes somewhere that suggested they were moving totems to use global pulse timers, so that all tremor totems pulsed at the same time, etc.
I'm not sure where I'd find that info again. Anyone else have anything that they can add here? It'd definitely be handy to get a solid answer.

I only have one shaman in my team but what I found is that if I drop the totem further in front or behind (depending on which way I dont wont to get feared) where my group is parked that the tremor totem breaks the fear.

I did some testing using the totemtimers addon. It has a pulse counter. The addon shows them all pulsing on their own time, serparate from eachother. However I do not know if that is a limitation of the addon or if in fact it works that way. I will try some testing in the arena later tonight with a rogue to see how cleansing works.

Would be interested to hear the results.
I tried searching around on the Blizz forums, but haven't found anything useful to suggest that anything got moved to global pulse timers. I figured I would have found more whine threads if they had changed anything, especially tremor totems.
I'm more inclined at this point to think that all the pulsing timers are indeed still based on when they were dropped, meaning you can benefit from staggered tremor totems. Healing and Mana totems definitely haven't changed.

Totemtimers, as a client addon, will be simply setting client-side timers for this display; and that as such doesn't reflect what is happening on the server.
If a totem DOES something with a pulse, it is reflected in the combat log - you will see a ton of healing stream totem pulses, for instance.
For tremor & cleansing, you won't see anything in the combat log unless an effect is removed.
I'd suggest using Dextren Ward in the stockades to test this, doing a number of runs with just one tremor totem down versus multiple staggered tremor totems. Use the combat log to see how long it takes his fear to break on average. There should be a marked average fear uptime difference between 1 and 4/5 staggered totems if the pulses are independent, not server synchronized.

Played around with this in H DTK and H Utgarde Pinnacle over the past couple runs (King Dred and the undead troll guys near the boss that fear in DTK, berserkers in Utgarde)- there was a marked difference in fear uptime with three staggered tremors vs. one tremor. Still not anywhere near as reliable as when they were firing off once a second though.
Other factors may include range - I tend to spread out the sham in a standard cross patern, at 5-10yds apart, so it occured to me that 1 tremor down at one "point" of the cross vs. three down at the front, left and right points of the cross could make a difference as well?
If i remember this weekend I'll see about doing some more structured tests w/ logs.

I did (H) UK yesterday with staggered cleansing totems (2). Diseases were near instantly removed - I only knew they were up because Decursive (mod) makes a noise when something is put on my team.
