View Full Version : Wrath pricing going down any time soon?

I'm a professional artist, which makes the financial side of 5x boxing a bit tricky sometimes. Basically what I've been doing is paying for chunks of game time and account upgrades whenever I have an unexpected windfall. But my main team is closing in on 68, and so far only two of the accounts have Wrath. As far as I can tell I have the following three options:
1. Come up with the $120, which is barely doable but would make other things trickier.
2. Level everyone up to 70 in Outland, and then just take the two on Wrath accounts to Northrend.
3. Level everyone up to 70, and then work on leveling other teams and chars to 70.

I'd be more inclined to go with 3 over 2 if I knew that there might be a price drop coming soon. If there's the same delay between BC's release and the release of the Battlechest, that would put it coming some time around June, but is it possible that some retailer somewhere might start putting it on sale occasionally? How long did that take after BC?

(If you find yourself in need of a snazzy hat and would like to support my "three more Shamans in Northrend" fund, you can find a wide array of English flat caps at very competitive prices over at antieuclid.etsy.com )[/end shameless plug]

I would do option #3 instead of taking only a partial team further and leaving some behind, especially if you're going to have to do the 2 alone. Not only will you be keeping the team together, getting another team, but you'll also gain a whole bunch of rested experience for all 5 of them while you're waiting to get the last 2 accounts upgraded. Leveling with max rested in wrath is MUCH better than doing it without.

if you are state side or can get it offline, i've heard that bestbuy sometimes has their's on sale, so you can check them out or gamestop, which is where i get all my games from since there's no bestbuy here.

Get a part time job for 4 weeks to pay for them..?

there are so many ways to make money, its not like you dont have much time...

im sorry but i can't relate to $120 being so unattainable... for anyone

edit: unless your in school that is, which im assuming your not if your a "professional artist"

Well... He did say hes a professional artist so that is his job, and how do you know how much time he has?

on topic tho, Id go with #3, or just farm a lot of gold on your main group so you can have all epic flyers and cold weather when you hit 77, makes things so much easier.

Plasma donations can net you some cash for upgrades, depending on your weight.

I'm still getting a fancy hat.

I'd do 3 as well. Park em at 70, and save up a few quest turnins for when you activate wrath, so you get a decent exp boost when you first start. In the mean time, level up some alts. I have tons of random teams at various levels that I'm slowly leveling up via round robin rested exp swapping. If you had RAF, is it still going? That's the best time to level any toons you think you may want later, cause it gets even more expensive to try and do it again, either via transfers, or maintaining more accounts.

Also, what are you goals in the game? If you want to raid, or end game pvp, make saving money a priority. If you are just having fun, have fun with new toons and upgrade the last 3 accounts when you can.

Fact: If you have time to MB, you have time to get a second job to come up with a fixed cost of $120.

i dont know about major stores but i went into the bx (military convienence store) and wotlk was $40 marked down 25%. i found a mislabled one with a 50% sticker and quickly snached it up. you might want to look at stores like that. circuit city jsut went out of buisiness down here, dont know if its nationaly but theyll be liquidating if it is. i woudl think blizz would drop the prices soon though, it has been a while. anyway try those quirky little stores your bound to find something.

edit: unless your in school that is, which im assuming your not if your a "professional artist"I'm autistic, and stuck in that annoying gap where I don't quite qualify for disability but no one will hire me. I live in the best school district in the city, and unfortunately most of the managers hiring for part time work would rather hire the omnipresent high school students than a visibly autistic person, even when I'd probably do a better job.

I just checked this week's circular, and Best Buy is offering Wrath at $29.99 this week. Perfect timing!

Besides sales, I would think a Battlechest2 would be next. I suppose you can try to find a "used" copy that hasn't actually been used yet. That'd be iffy though.

Great news! Wrath is now 29.99 at most retailers, and with a battlechest still being only 39.99 it now makes a new Rafed account a bit more affordable!

I like your hats they have always been one of my favorites. I was in a play in 5th grade and got to wear one and I wore it all the time. I had to give it back after the play finished and was pissed. I have never gotten one but always wanted one. Unfortunately, I am not allowed to pick my own clothes. My wife has taken over that job. I sent her a link and asked her to pick one for me. Hopefully I will get the thumbs up.

That said it, looks like you have discounted Wrath making the decision easier. I would have taken even 2 into NR. I leveled my pally from 70-80 with my daughter's druid and we tore through stuff (both playing not boxing).I am now pulling my teams through with the pally. It has been a breeze. They are all 68-69 and were able to do do UK, my first "real instance". So even if you only get two you can use one or both to speed the others through when they do get in. Maybe only do HF or BT with the first 2. So they can qquest with the other 3 on the other side for the gold at 80.

My wife also used to work with elementary school children with autism and asperger's. So she (and I) know first hand some of the struggles you might (knowing that the saying "no two people are alike" applies even more to people with autism) have with things a lot of us take for granted (and why things like multiboxing can be so appealing).

The accounts that are not upgraded will not gain rested EXP past L70...Truth. But, you CAN stop at say 68.5, and you'll have 150% rested starting Northrend. And that much rested goes a long way at those levels, esp if you're not playing that account 100% of the time. When making my initial push through Northrend with my main, I probably did 2-3 levels unrested, and thats with playing daily and logging out in inns and it took a couple hours to burn off the rested from the day before. My alts I couldn't get off unrested at all.

Downside is, stopping early gives you no chance to farm up gold or whatnot, but if 2 accounts are already upgraded, they'll be earning xp if they go to northrend or not, so if you wanna keep em even, you'd be screwed either way.

Option 3 if you can't do option 1.
