View Full Version : Doing missions in a fleet

While my other characters were busy learning 10d skills, I made 5 new characters that will be ratting mostly. I couldn't figure out how to do missions with them. I figured it might be like WoW where you all have the same quest and complete it. But it looks like that is not the case, and if all your characters pick up the same mission name, they will all be warping to different locations. So essentially you have to do the mission 5 times. Is this correct?
Btw, I love the "warp fleet" feature.

1 person gets the mission.
Everyone can warp with them and help them complete it. When you turn in the mission, i BELIEVE that everyone who is in your gang will split the reward (I know the reward is split I am just not sure what the determining factor is, but I think its everyone in your gang). So if you have anybody with mission bonus skills (Which would be smart if youre going to mission a lot) you want to have that person taking the missions in order to increase the bonus.

When you turn in the mission from the person that receives the mission there will be a prompt that asks you whether you would like to split the reward between your fleet members or keep it all for yourself.

Not exactly right AFAIK - it's true that only one character per account can be training - but switching to an alt does not stop them training - in fact you get a warning on the alt if you try to start training (tried this two years ago, mihgt be different now)
I'm guessing that doz3rr has extra accounts not characters?

Again AFAIK that is correct, there are no group missions, everything is 'solo', although you can split the reward for a mission between up to 10 characters.
By 'solo' I mean that one character gets the mission but can be helped by as many chars as you like.
Lastly, in EVE 'ratting' generally means killing the npc pirates that spawn at belts etc as opposed to running missions, again, as far as I know that is.

Yeah I knew I couldn't train skills on the ratters, but wanted to try it out anyways.
My miners have at least 20days before covetors. I have 5 days until Mining Barge 4, then god only knows how long 5 will take. The thing that sucks is I already have all the money I need to upgrade to covetors. I'm just waiting on the training. There's no point in mining because I don't need cash for anything. My hauler literally months away from an Orca (christmas time?).
So basically there's no point in logging in. Not sure what I'm gonna do for the next few weeks. Started training rigs on my Hauler to perhaps burn some money away to give me something to mine for, but even that is a looong time out.

You could open trial accounts via the buddy program, add a month to each, and therefore get a months free time on the recruiting accounts.
Use the new accounts to try out stuff you wouldn't do otherwise - missions, PVP, piracy, faction warfare - it doesn't matter if you end up not being interested in any of those things, but you might find something else you like and it's effectively 'free' time thanks to the buddy program.

Just a note here... its not a free month, because the account setup costs $20... but it IS a $5 extra month, which isnt that big of a deal.

Make more isk, mine to start your own production runs? Playing eve online as a waiting game will burn you out fast.
Or go out and get your yarr on =)

Regarding the shared rewards, what gets shared specifically? I assume the ISK. What about LP? And even more importantly, what about standing gains?

Hey Ken, way to necro a thead.
Standing gains are shared as one of the ways to get to higher level missions on new characters is to have them fleeted with a character running the high level missions and share the rewards. This gets you reputation with the agent, plus some with the corp.
However AFAIK it won't get you standing gains with any factions, those are only gained by doing the storyline missions and only the character who took the mission gets to count it against the '16 missions to get a storyline mission' number.
So in short multibox PVE mission running would probably be done best with one lead char and some supporting 'slaves' and _not_ sharing the reward.
That said, take a look at the new 'Incursion' PVE features:

This is specifically set up for small gang PVE so should be ideal for multiboxers at the lower end.
