View Full Version : The PTR, Premades and multiboxing
I saw today that the current PTR now offers Premades with Full S2 and Badge gear.
You can make up to 4 per account. Having 5 accounts, this has my head exploding. I just realized I can experience 5 boxing S2 Shamans... S2 Hunters... Mages... whatever I want!
I went ahead and created a Shaman, Mage, Hunter and Druid (always thought 5 boxing Druids would be fun) and then logged into my second account to do the same. However, after I did, I get to the last step in the transfer, and it gives me an error. I'll keep working on why that is.
Till then, I wanted to ask your opionions.
Is this a good idea? My shaman are 41. If I play a decked group of 70s, will I be encouraged to keep pushing my regular team? Or will it just make it harder to spend the next several months dragging them through content until I get back to 70.
Will playing 5 decked 70 hunters encourage me to level 5, or will I enjoy the premades, then figure I never need to build a hunter team now that I experienced it.
Have any of you 5 boxed premades? Was it a good experience? Or did it make it even harder to go back to the grind?

Boom
Are you kidding me?!
ZOMGOMFOFOMFOMZO time to get 4 ele shamans and try that out with 1 other healer
p.s. now that the excitement has slightly passed and I found out the servers aren't up yet, ill answer your question.
If its good, you'll probably want mare, aka encouraging you to level 5 hunters.
also i just read
" Due to technical problems the PTR will not be brought up tonight.
We expect the PTRs to be available sometime late tomorrow, I will update with status again when I have more specific information.
Until then go enjoy the live realms."
Sticky on the PTR forums :(

Make sure you test epic flyers. The lag on the PTRs means that generally those tests go very badly.

I've used open source projects like Magnos or Ascent to test out 5 box combinations. I still haven't decided which 5 box team I'll stick with. I was originally going to go with an all hardware 5 box setup so I had the extra computers. I set up my own private Ascent server and its like having your own PTR server.

PTR gave me the test results I needed to make 4 Shamans. I would say it is definitely worth it, don't spend a ton of time though on test as it completely removes the appreciation factor for the character.

I have been playing my Pally/4 Shadow Priest combo for a few days on PTR now. I'm Horde on the PVE Realm (less queue and since all I'm doing is bgs arena its irrelevant)
I'm called Slatz.
Its amazing fun but dont win alot of pug bg's as a) nobody knows how the hell to play their premade character - and everyone just follows me around so nobody caps flags or defends - really need my own Guildies to be in organized bgs. :/
Prayer Of Mending has to be the biggest secret ever - I can tank forevvvvver with PoM going and have 4,5,6,7 - 10 ppl all over me.
Eventually I run out of mana and they keep rezzing up and coming in waves and get me though. :D
Soooo much fun!
***EDIT
Also to Boom, do one character then completely close your browser instances and reopen and do again. Otherwise the test servr caches your first login even if you use 'logout' on the main page. I accidently have 3 priests on my second clone account :P
@Slats: hehe.. I saw you on alliance when I was playing single toon.. was trying to catch you with my felguard squad later hehehe.. (dang random BGs) :)

Yeah the horde kept talking about another Alliance multiboxer but couldn't tell me the names so I couldn't PM anyone on IRC or forums to try catch up with them.
I was hoping to run into someone - how did you find the Warlocks went in BG's? :D 4x SoC and Felguards ouch.
