I'v sold like 60 maps to this chest for 20g each. Whats in this chest that is so relitivly valuable? One of the Plans? The limited stealth goggels? The minor invisibily potion? The invisibility potion? 4percent to mount speed thing?

Free green items? I'm pretty sure you don't get XP for the quest, so...meh.

20g for green items? One or two?

You realize there are comments on the page you linked that state most of the time it contains one or two greens.

Then there's the booze.

Ya they sell for like 6-9 gold ... so where is the profit? Ya one or two will drop each time for sure.

Enchanting materials.

Why not just buy from AH and disenchant then? Sounds easier.

No exp for the quest itself but you get 13K for killing all the mobs and turtles ...

Solo'd this with lvl 51 frost mage. For those complaining about no EXP and not enough money as rewards, try this:

Kill all the turtles. They're not elites, so it's definitely possible as low as lvl 46 or 47. Just be patient. Kill all the pirates. Only five lvl 45's, and can be pulled in groups. Loot everything you kill, even the turtles. They drop clams, which could have pearls which go well in the AH if nothing else.

From all this I got:

13,006 EXP (Yes, thirteen thousand. Talk about no EXP.)

Selling just the turtle parts to vendors and looting the pirates was good for 2g 38s 95c. And that's not selling the alcohol, or counting what I got in the AH for the green items pulled from the chest.

So why you do this 20 times?

Maybe someone figured out what to do with the drink with worm, some parrot asks for it but it dosnt seem to do anything:

The mithril spur plans are worth ~200g to a leveling Blacksmith but the drop rate seems too low to justify paying 20g for a small chance... well given that everything is overpriced at AH those days, maybe that too... or maybe it's just people wanting to do that quest

That makes the most sense, sure its only .8 percent but even if you pay 20g you will likely get back 15g or more in items anyway so actual final cost is low. And if you buy 20 maps at one time you only need go there once.

Right now the spurs are 20g each on my sever.

Think Ill start saving up the maps and do the quest myself (I did it once but didnt really see what the deal was).

From the wowhead comments it looks like its now a repeatable quest, but I'm pretty sure that when I did it the last time (a loooooooooong time ago) it was not, and it gave xp. So I'd guess people don't know that there is no more xp for the quest (like me) and thus buy the maps :)
