View Full Version : EQ2: Class Selection charts and information

I'm working on yet another section of the wiki to chart out benefits of each class and what they can bring to a group.

But, sorting through all the information out there is getting REALLY hard to tell what is old or invalid.

Soooo.. would some of you take a look at the charts and see if I've left anything off?

My main concerns are:
1. Resist types (fire, cold...)
2. Stats that can be buffed (Str, Int, HP, melee skills...)
3. Types of damage a class can put out.

It's in a pretty raw format right now..so don't expect anything too pretty.
I like to get all the data first and then make it shiny. :P

Here's the direct link: http://www.dual-boxing.com/mediawiki/index.php/Class_Selection

Do we have the ability to to show tooltips when hovering on the wiki? It would be great to link in spells/buffs from alla and be able to se the decriptions.

On a similar note, adding a chart that shows common group makeup and the buffs each bring to make it real easy to see.

I'll try to check over stuff while at work but I don't think I can edit from here.

Very nice work Frosty - and tbth - I don't recall seeing such a 'potentially' comprehensive listing on the net - nice work

Started to add a few bits into the resists table

Kinda OT, but when I was playing EQ2, one of the big things was the Heroic Opportunity and if you had one of each class, if a Scout started it and everyone hit their mark it unleashed some decent whoop ass. Is that stuff still in game and even considered for MB there?

We might be able to with some sort of CSS, but I don't know what all is enabled with the wiki.

That works. I have no idea how to do edits on the wiki. So if I find something to link up I will put it here. I have an X-keys to set up also once I get to my other work station on Monday and get access to the color printer. Once I get the icons resized and wrapped up in a nice package in word, I will try to find a place to upload them.

Sounds good on the links for the wiki!

Ok, couple of posts upcomming here. I would have added them directly to the wiki, but I am too braindead today to try and figure out how to do it without messing up your format :p

A few addtional classes and some additional info on some already there. Please excuse the typos, I did it by hand because god knows if the info I get from other sites will be valid. I tried to stick with base spells, but made a few notes on stuff that changes from talents.

Oh, and this first, for people trying to figure out wth the difference is between effects :

Control Effects -
Stifle, stun, daze...???

Control effects are something that somehow impairs a target from taking a certain action. Charm isn't technically a "control effect" as far as classification, but I think it still belongs here as it is a means for preventing a mob's hostile actions.

Snare - Slows target movement. Useful for kiting a mob or gving you time to get a root off, since snare is usually faster casting than root.
Root - Holds the target in place. They can still cast and attack.
Interrupt - stops the target from completing thier current spell cast.
Daze - Prevents auto-attacks. Does not effects spells, movement or combat arts.
Stifle - the opposite of Daze. Prevents casting and combat art usage, but still allows the target to auto-attack.
Charm - temporarily causes the targetted mob to become an ally. The charmed target can be ordered to attack his former allies, but upon termination it will become agressive to you again.
Mez - Prevents all action from the target. Usually broken upon any damage.
Fear - Makes the target run away from you. This is uncontrolled and best used only in places where there are no other mobs to social agro and in conjunction with a snare to slow the mob's movement speed.

That works. I have no idea how to do edits on the wiki. So if I find something to link up I will put it here. I have an X-keys to set up also once I get to my other work station on Monday and get access to the color printer. Once I get the icons resized and wrapped up in a nice package in word, I will try to find a place to upload them.

That would be outstanding, I am a total amateur on using any kinda photoshop program and just been using MS paint to resize each icon manually, guessing on if it's the right size, trial and lots of errors....on each icon. Just went with printing up what was on the wiki in the size it already was. Nearly all were too small, many way too small and a few too big. Wasn't looking forward to trying to resize what will probably be about 100 different icons lol.

I had to relearn all over again from when I did the wow icons. I am grouping them up by Fighters, Priests, Scouts, Mages. There is some duplicates among them but that won't really matter. They may end up being a small bit larger than the keycap which is better than being tiny. :D

I think I have all of Khatovar's info added now.

I also re-worked the tables to use a slighty more friendly format...slightly.. :P
I'm keeping them simple until we get all the info added in, then I'll make it "purty".

Fighter and Mage Icons are done. They fit the xkey keycaps nicely too. Two more to go then I am going to shop for some glossy paper to print on. ;)

Edit: They are finished and saved in Word 2003 format. Now to find a way to distribute.

List of known slash commands ('http://www.eq2interface.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12455'). <== Last edited on 14Mar09 so it is very recent.

The all important accept quest command: /q_accept_pending_quest

I haven't tested it yet, still at work. This goes into the user submitted macros section. I hope that it is the correct command.

Edit: I just found a /stopfollow command in that list!

The only thing I found on that was from a no-no site. Apparently it is a hidden action sent from the button on the quest box to the server, so it's not really useable in macros. However, it is useable in the UIBuilder. People who make the UI Mods out there use these interface actions for things like enter to loot, enter to accept and such. I've had to resort to Mayve's Accept/decline mod, which works well enough, but I wish there was a way to macro it myself. :(

I've downloaded the EQ2 UI builder tool kit thing.. but I have to get my son off all the holiday candy before I can get a moment of peace to actually read anything. :P

But, I'm not sure an accept all for quests is a good idea since I've run into several Kill-X quests, that ended up being random for every member of the group.

They should really think about changing that to when you share the quest it is the same "kill-x" as the person who shared it. :S

The UIBuilder is a freaking headache, I don't blame people for not wanting to use it to create better interfaces. There is a ton of stuff that's hardcoded and can't be changed at all, or breaks other stuff. When I was trying to figure it out to make my own pieces, half the time stuff worked right in the UI Builder but didn't work at all in the game. Blegh.

I hope you can get it going, though. Then you can make the uber EQ2 boxing bits for all of us ;)

I didn't test the quest accept before posting it. A little bit of excitement wasted. :S

On the bright side I saw it mentioned that they might add a Lua scripting module to run in conjunction with the existing xml format for addons. An author would only need one line of code to tell EQ it was going to use Lua and whamo, a much easier interface. The Devs also said if they used Lua they could open up many more commands for use with the interface.

I am resorting to using the mouse repeater to click all the quest accepts at once. My round robin group invite/accept works awesome though. 8)

I didn't think of doing that, good idea!

I wouldn't count on me getting any cool mods out anytime soon. I have a "Honey-Do" list at home.
And I haven't been able to drag her into one of my games yet to side-track her. :P
