Yes i know there are so few of us who play eve, however it is a real pain in the butt trying to track down stuff reading threw page after page of EQ stuff :)
so status report after a couple of weeks of making alts...basicly the new player boost in training is really amazing lasting up till 1.6mill sp's it really does get you into the game faster, if you download evemon and follow it to the letter ofcourse, you can come out with some pretty amazing skills, well the rest of the new players are still struggling their way threw what skills to pick.
My main just learnt how to fly a Hulk mining barge last night, so I look forward to breaking that out tonight and eating all the roids I can find. My 4 alts, trained up industrial skills so they can start earning their keep by piloting badgers and later badger II's to haul all that precious veldspar back to a station and refine it and make my fortune selling minerals to other hungry shipbuilders.
basicly without using implants I can get my alts into Hulks in 72 days, so that's a bit of startup time, however doing all the tutorial missions has been fairly rewarding as they keep giving me all sorts of skillbooks and low level ships...I have a small fleet of bantoms currently, and some amarr ships that I cant even fly...however they look all interesting in my hanger. I think after the initial 72 days are over and I have the hulk it will take another 2 months to properly trainup all the specialty mining and refining skills if not longer, but after that I have an entire fleet of characters able to strip belts clean.
all in all eve's still pretty cool, the new graphics patch sure does make things a lot more sparkely in the game, not that I ever complained before, Im pretty happy running 5 copies of eve on my main system though, haven't noticed any need to take any of the settings off high. I have to ask myself why I didn't come back sooner, being able to just jump on and run a mission solo for 30 minutes is great, or some small fleet missions for an hour, I love how you don't have to put a huge investment of playtime in to keep your character advancing. I wish more games would take the real time approach to skill developement like Eve has, rather then the grinding game most mmo's play today.
well thats my 0.2 isk for the day....enjoying watching my new alts take shape and fill out their skills, tonight or tommorow I should see a small fleet of badgers flying in and out of my astroid belt well my Hulk stripmines everything in sight.

I think you can get a Hulk in about 56 days if you plan it right. At least, EVEmon spit out that number (+/- a few, I forget exactly). You might want to check what it says?

As soon as we have a WoW Section, and an EQ/EQ2 Section, and a RoM section, and a LOTRO section, we'll add an EVE section.

I've noticed a lot of EQ2 posts recently along with the EVE ones so it might be the right time to add some forum sections for each of the main games, because then we get to argue about which games are 'main', that'll be fun fun fun...

rather then making light of the situation why don't you seriously look into it, the users are here, we're just asking for simple organization..nothing your forum can't be setup to do in a few moments work.

Yes if I buy +3 or +4 implants I can shrink the training down from 72 to 56, im not sure at this point that's worth the initial isk investment for the implants since these are just hulk pilots + 1 orca pilot..im likely better to invest the same amount of isk into ships and fittings for the mining crew... although I did look at implants for longer goals..like a freighter or carrier

Time in eve = isk For those 16 extra days of having a hulk you can easily out earn how much you spent on the +3's. That and you'll speed up the mining skills as well.
Time is the single most important thing in eve.

tonight or tommorow I should see a small fleet of badgers
So does that make you a badger boxer?

I'll agree with you to a point...+3's are not worth the investment though, if I want to cut my training time down I should go for the +5's which will bleed me pretty deep on isk. However since I only plan serious mining ops once or twice a week just to cover my eve membership costs, im not really that concerned with how long it takes the new alts..My main's bringing in some steady cash.

+3's are dirt cheap, and for the time they save are well worth it. The extra +2 from +5's is only worth it if you plan to train more skills. if you plan to just get mining skills up and then stop training on that character stick with 3's, as the 5's would be a waste. Last I checked 3's were only 10-15m a pop, and you don't need to buy the perc, cha or willpower ones if you just plan on using them to train mining skills.
+3'S are very cost effective. Just because there is something better than 3's doesn't mean 3's are worthless.

I agree they need their own sections as well. I really hate clutter as well and think we need to consolidate some of the forums to make room, I don't want it to be bloated either ><
I'm currently on vacation, I'll make sure it gets done when I get back.

Because lazy admin is lazy. The mods here are only good for deleting posts and locking threads that they don't agree with.
Because broached subject has already been broached. ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=19826') There's no need to create seperate subforums for every game just because it gets a spurt of attention. There's no reason to attack Svpernova09 and call him lazy and imply that the mods in general are useless tyrants.

Time in eve = isk For those 16 extra days of having a hulk you can easily out earn how much you spent on the +3's. That and you'll speed up the mining skills as well.
Time is the single most important thing in eve. This.
The thing about implants isn't that they are only good for a few things, but that they speed up your learning skills which speed up your skills. I keep a brand new alt on one of my accounts so I can do skill planning anytime I want from EveMon. It saves me from having to worry if I'm taking an existing char's skills and implants into account when I'm figuring out times.
So here are the rough calcs for getting into a Hulk.
No learners: 79d 15h
Learners: 50d 19h
Learners/Implants(+3): 42d 5h
Learners/Implants/Remap: 37d 23h
You will spend about 20 mil isk for the advanced learning skills.
You will spend about 40 mil isk for the +3 implants on all attributes except charisma.
You get two remaps with a new character, and then there is a year delay.
You save 42 days, which is more than 30 days of play time, which is 320 mil isk.
Spend $34.95, get 2 Plex. You will get about 600 mil isk for them in Jita after taxes. This is enough money to get 9 trial accounts training with advanced learners and implants. You will have to convert them to paid accounts to be able to train some skills, but I don't see this as a cost since you get 30 days play time on the main, you're just paying for a different account. To me, the $34.95 to get money for implants and learners is cheaper than waiting an extra 42 days.
IMHO, the EVE trials are even more insane than RAF. My guys keep training even when I sleep. I've started a bunch of trials who are only working on learners and such, but the first thing they all do is train cybernetics to level 1. +5 implants aren't worth the time it takes to train the cyber netics skill up, especially when you can get +3 implants with the level 1 skill.
As for a seperate forum area, I'd back that, but I'd also settle for the Eve multiboxers thread being stickied.

It isn't about being lazy, it's about the couple times I've brought up adding sections to the other mods It's typically a resounding "no we have enough".
Edit, Subforums added, we'll see how it goes. Have at it.
