Atttempted my first Heroic and got steamrolled on 1st boss

I attempted Heroic UK yesterday, since it is supposed to be an "easy" heroic, but I got my ass handed to me on the first boss. I don't think my gear is the problem. I suspect my macros and/or reaction times are bad/slow. Hachoo's videos make it look so easy. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Any advice?

Note that I don't have a true healer (3 ele shamans), but Hachoo seems to do fine without a "real" healer. I've done all the instances (except Oculus) on normal just fine.

Heh, definitely not a tank issue (edit: or any other toon, now that I looked at them all). Yours blows mine away from when I first beat it.

In case you glossed over it, but shadow resist aura on tank (for shadow bolts) and frost resist totem from one of the shamans. Use mage armor on the mage (more resist). Keep in mind that you can resist being ice tombed altogether, so high resists makes this fight far easier (and easier for the achievement).

Should be obvious enough, but target and blow down any tomb that does land right away. You can bubble and iceblock out of tombs, too.

Keep all your slaves RIGHT behind the tank, do not spread out. Consecration will not only ensure the skeletons stay on the tank, but will also help damage the tombs.

The major damage in this fight is really the tombs, so your focus is really just watching for those. Once you work out how to manage the tombs, the fight isn't too bad.

to me this is the hardest boss when starting out. i usually skipped him. what you can do is park your guys down the hall before his room in a corner and when you pull him just blow your cooldowns and when teh skeleton adds come out drop your fire elementals/ or earth and just keep dpsing the boss. also for the icetiombs i have this macro on all my guys

/target frost tomb
/cast lightning bolt

this will kill the tombs in 1 hit depending on your gear.

i also used a resto shaman until my tank was geared enough to take the hits (earthshield+ riptide= win)

drop 4x magma totems on the first and second boss in UK.
these totems do AWSOME dmg and don't run away like your fire elementals can, they will burn everything away.

and I get right up in the face of the first boss with your whole team so the magma totems are burning him too.

Nice gear. Did you do pugs on individual toons before attempting the multibox heroic?

You are way more geared than i am, you should be able to down UK. Have you done many dungeons? Might be helpful to practice your team coordination skills on non-heroics ... i recently went back and did all of the Outland dungeons for the Heroic Achievement .. learned many things and tweaked my macros.

UK blows....I had all kinds of trouble with it for a long time. Head over to Gundrak and at try the snake and mammoth bosses. I found them both to be very easy. Then move out from there and try some other bosses. THere are many that are skippable at places if u get stuck, but soon youll be clearing several of them. It just takes time and gear to get rollin.

Gundrak(and Draktheron) are far easier and faster to clear.

First boss in UK is the hardest IMO. He's skippable, but also very doable. Once you get a feel for it he's not all that bad, but being a caster getting a clean pull was the hard part for me. I watched Hachoo's vid and now LOS him to the doorway you come in at, and tank very close to my shammies, works a treat.

Magma totem will break ice tomb, and kill the adds very quickly (they have very low HP) and if you tank close enough also puts dps on the boss. Cleansing totem will clear the disease. Win!

Wait there is a disease?? LoL learn something new everyday.Technically I think it's the adds that cast it (and they don't always do it). It's a debuff called Decrepify.
