Hey everybody,
on
http://home.comcast.net/~xbx/xbox.htm
i have seen new pictures from kara. Does anybody have experience on 5 boxing kara? Are there any parts 5 boxable (if so which group setup? 5 shams?)? I whould be surprised if that whould be possible but 5boxing always has it's own dynamics.
Any input?

You need at least 2 Tanks and 2.5 healers in kara (2 healers are ok from Attumen, Moroes, and Maiden) the rest would require 3.
So if you're going to 5 box, your team would comprise of the 5 DPS classes. I'd be strongly against being one of the main healers and the reamining 4 DPSers because MT healing requires that much more attention as it is.
Being all the DPSers, you can't really 5 Box all range casters as there are portions of kara that are immune to spell damage (post curator) so someof the DPSers have to be melee - unless you want to rely on your 5 warlock pets to do your melee dmg.
But if you have to push the envelop on things, I'd probably say that the most feasibily on having a 5 box set up on the kara raid (half of the raid is yours) is to have 5 warlocks (or 4 warlocks and a priest if you are that good in healing the raid and at the same time doing max dps on ur warlocks ... aka Xzin).
Muahahaha, I completely intend to 10 box Kara.
I have no idea if I actually CAN but I used to 5 box much of UBRS.... so I know its *possible* (and that was a 10 man dungeon).
Let's see just HOW good Voidwalkers are at tanking :)

Hehe - *cheers*
But you might want to see first if your voidwalkers can live hard hitting bosses in normal and heroic. The trash, as im sure you already know, hits harder than the bosses in normal - let alone the dmg on the bosses. Sooooooooooooo...if your VWs can survive normal bosses - then - off to kara you go :P
Moroes will be interesting in your set up
I know very little about the 60-70 end game right now. Well, 5 mans for that matter.
It should be fun to figure it all out - anything to watchout for? AKA totally spell immune mobs that each aoe silence, split off into non aoeable totems that spit fire and ooze poison?

Hehe, voidwalkers won't work for that. Considering warriors get crushed by the prince for 6k ;)
get more defence ;) but a warrior would be best in the party, totally agree. Most bosses are easy, but do have a lot of hp.

Thus far, the only real problems I've had are with Blackheart the Inciter, as he MC's the whole group at once, and my current group is somewhat Stamina light, DPS intesive, which, well, doesn't turn out well. Aggro reset also makes things difficult with a Paladin tank who blows all his mana on stupid crap while MC. Having the party scatter doesn't help. However, I was getting somewhat burnt out at the time, and I imagine reworking some specific macros and regearing for the fight could let me get it down.
The other encounter I've had trouble with is the final boss of Arcatraz, again, burn out, low Stamina, and the finesse of moving 5 characters in diffferent directions at once really took a toll.
There's a fight, (optional though) in Mechanaar involving a Blood Elf who summons Geddon style fire elementals that have to be kited by 2 players to avoid their Hellfire.
Black Morass was somewhat difficult, as I was undergeared, and hit revered (my goal at the time) before I figured out the best way to burn down a boss while simultaneously managing spawning adds that headed straight for Medivh. Again, the Pally tank issue came up. Not being able to have him drink between pulls with the rest of the party really threw off my groove there as well.
Really, its mostly fights that require full attention on several characters at once that would get me. These are also most likely issues I have with a 5-class party, as I've seen Bunny drop Blackheart fairly simply.
I've been on multi-boxing hiatus for a week or two now, just to experiment with individual characters in an attempt to improve my group play. I'll also be moving my setup, so I can adjust my monitor placement as well. I'm sure that will help with my attention problem.

If you ever get down anything in Kara please post a video - i'd just love to see that.
For that matter: I'd love to see a vid of anything 10 boxed - maybe when your toons are ready you can post some pve and pvp stuff (must be funny when 30 aliance work on your general in AV and your 10 box team decides to aoe them.
Keep us posted, Bunny

That's why warlocks are the optimal class for DPS in multiboxing instances. You can run and DPS (through dots - both instant and casting ones) at the same time.
As far as inciter - for the non MC'd fights - cluster your guys and make sure everyone's back is facing the wall - you'll have to POH a lot (mana pots for the pally is a must unfortunately). But the best part is the DoTs still tick on Inciter even if you're MC'd.
Same with the bloodelf + 2 fire elementals. Can tank-kite the blood elf and make sure to have dots on the female pally. Save SoJustice for when she mem blurs aggro. I find it better to kite her all the way to Pantheon's room since the Fire elementals move pretty slow.
Hope it helps.

Can someone either update their info about 5 boxing Kara, or perhaps make a new thread? I am one of a few in no hurry to hit 80 (I just hit 71 doing Bot last night) and I'm interested to see what is needed to have success with 5 and what my team's expectations should be.

Wait what? kara has been 5 boxed by several people with 1 tank and 4 dps. I have gone in there with 10 dps and cleared attune/moross/opera (big bad wolf/wizard of oz/and romulo and juliet)/curator/shade/ilhoof.
This thread was started over a year ago.

I've read all of those out dated posts, when they were posted. Read MY question. No one in those threads posted anything since 3.0 and no one posted their gear or setups.
Umm, use the search feature?
Kara has been 5 boxed (I personally did it 5 (me) + 5 (guildies).
Kara has been 10 boxed by a single person.
Kara has been done by a good number of boxers with multiple team configurations (4, 3, 2... 6.. whatever).
From there, Zul'Aman has been 5 boxed I think too (with a much higher difficulty than Kara)

I just did another search on 'kara' 'karazhan' and '5 man kara' and all you get is your post about you and your buddy, Fur, and another older post about someone running kara and ZA with guildies. Let me be more specific.
Is anyone STILL 5 boxing Kara, post WotLK? Are you using 1 pally 4 shaman or a mixed team? Do you use focus leadership or free-ball? I have a real hard time judging who effective I should be able to be in certain instances because one post says "I hit 70 15 seconds before midnight, installed wotlk and cleared UK with 300 SP and a tank with 8k hp" another post says "my full S2 noob team and Kara gear pally wiped like Charmin in UK". I'm looking for some information go gauge
1) is my gear to bad to be doing what I am trying
2) do my skills need work
3) do I just need due dilligence
Nothing, in the massive number of pages I searched, addresses this. This post sort of does, but it's outdated, so I /cast Resurrection on it.

I don't mean to come off as a dick but I say just go try it. You should be able to get down attune/morroes/maybe maiden. With wotlk out it might be kind of a waste to do it. Level to 80 then come back and see it if you just want to experience the content. I guarantee at that point you will be able to blow through it.

This is sort of a culmination post. A few of us who hit 70 late are struggling in WotLK instances. And I intend to level slowly to 80 and enjoy it anyhoo, so no biggie. I also still want to do some of the older stuff, even some of the really old stuff, that I enjoy doing 'normally'. I could be a dick and say 'use the search function' and you could see that I have tried Kara (7 Man Kara post), but I'm a bit nicer than to just copy/paste that stucco line in every post :/ Also, we all know how unreliable the search feature is at times. I down Attumen and Moroes ok, but I'm having trouble with Maiden and beyond.
Please don't say 'take a friend' because I don't have any. Everybody ditched me when I started multiboxing :/ I would like to collect a section of data on the middle 80%, not the top 5%, of the community to see if anyone is still bothering wtih Kara and ZA and what their story is. Basically my shaman are at 575-600 SP 15% crit 6k hp and my pally tank is around 14k hp, 490 def 22% dodge (ish) 13-14% block and parry.

I'm in a tiny guild of mostly real life friends. One guy (a warrior tank) who lives for pugging instances (he's done multiple in wrath so far, I've seen him in the first three, but not sure how many runs he's done). Apart from him, my multibox team is the only group actively running instances much right now. (I've run about 16-17 wrath instance runs, but won't both with TBC without a reason at this point.)
I've considered running Kara with the guild, but the question becomes...why? Kara gear is replaced very quickly by Wrath quest rewards. Apart from doing it to do it, that is. Or perhaps getting tanking gear - I've found one thing (a necklace I think) that is a tank item apart from blacksmithing created gear.
Same with ZA - I've debated pushing my guild to go run it (we never have, though I've been in a few times in the past), and I doubt we'd find much of anything worth getting.

Maiden for a paladin can be very tough b/c she silences. I have never tanked with a paladin but if you can't cast spells can you hold agro very well.
Make sure you are spread out. You can run around the outsides of the walls and set your toons up before hand. There are little half circle areas that can put one of each of your shaman in then when you start you can press the walk forward button so everyone moves at the same time.
Get deadly boss mods and heal your tank to full right before she silences. Not sure if grounding totems eat the holy fire thing but if they do make sure they are up the whole time.
Also if you can't get past her you can still continue on with the instance. You don't need to do maiden before you do opera.

I'd never been before, though i have cleared TBC heroics. Gear is a mix of badge / pvp. It's taken me about 4 tries or so to hone the macros/positioning for each boss encounter (except midnight/attu... but really that's just a free badge it seems). Why am I running kara when there's not much to be had out of it? For me it's a lot more fun then running my normal badge circuit for the umpteenth time and it's giving me some challenges that i expect will make transitioning into expansion instances a bit easier.
Trick for me on Maiden was to top off tank right before repentance, drop grounding totems at every opportunity and take it slow and steady. I just setup in a cross formation right outside of aggro range and went at it.
First time I made it to Opera I got Oz - started off by burning Dorthee while running around trying to keep Lion and tinman on the pali, when strawman woke up I dropped 4x fire eles to keep him nice and stunned for the duration of the fight. After Dorthee dropped it was just a matter of burning down the other targets one at a time. bit of movement once Crone popped but for the most part it was just a straight up nuke fest.
Curator gave me fits until I stopped trying to DPS him at all until Evoc. Basically I just focused on healing the tank, and added a /target Astral Flare line to my DPS macros so the rotation looked something like - heal, pause, flare - nuke nuke, heal, nuke flare, heal etc until Curator is OOM and goes into evoc; at that point i popped 4x fire eles along with bloodlust and just went nuts, after evoc was finished i dropped back to the heal/nuke flare rotation and he went down. Without a dedicated healer this fight was all about honing my healing macros to top off whoever took the hateful bolt.

At level 70 I 10 boxed to farming state Kara (9 boxed Nightbane -the person moved group out of charred earth) and never did but really believe Netherspite is 8 Boxeable) with:
Protection Paladin
4* Elemental Shaman
Moonkin
Precision Hunter
Fire Mage
Restoration Shaman
Holy Priest
Same thing in ZA, farmed all except last boss. My best was three chests on timer.
So, please ask if I can help you somehow.
