"Not even two months after NVIDIA tempted gamers on a budget with the GeForce 8800 GT, the outfit has loosed a new beast just in time for those eleventh hour holiday shoppers. Based on 65-nanometer fabrication, the 8800 GTS 512MB boasts 128 stream processors, twin dual-link DVI ports, PureVideo HD technology, DirectX 10 support, a 650MHz core clock / 970MHz memory clock and hardware decode acceleration for smooth playback of "H.264, VC-1, WMV and MPEG-2 HD and SD movies." According to the company, this card provides some 25-percent more processing power than NVIDIA products previously offered at the same price point, which, if you're wondering, is around $299 to $349."

Almost an 8800GTX for much less. But - the 8800 GT is also perfectly viable and cheaper still.

Hrm...Looking at a GT for my new rig. Honestly, is the difference between the EVGA versions of both cards (GT and GTS) worth the $30 leap in price?

no, not really, the GT will work just as well, there would be hardly any difference in fps, plus getting the GT will save you some cash

I have a BFG 8800 GTX and i'm thinking of tossing another one in there. Would I be able to use a GT and run it SLI or would i need another GTX?

I'm running 5 WoW's on 1 box and it works great untill i go into Org then i drop to like 15 fps. It's not that big of a deal but I'm wondering how AV will be later.

My specs:
E6600 Dual
BFG 8800GTX
8G 1000Mhz RAM (did'nt notice any change from the 4G 1066Mhz Corsiar i had before)
XP Pro x64
2 26" Acer Monitors

in sli mode it is not possible to use the twinview feature... so you probably loose the 2nd monitor

Related question. Would I see better performance for two monitors from 2x 8600GTs(512), or a single 8800GTS(640)?

Single 8800GTS.

Drivers are buggy so theres very little improvement from 1 8600GT to 2 8600GT's

Lovely, thanks. Now all I have left to decide on is peripherals.
