View Full Version : (Warcraft) do you need to do /follow after every fight? (why are there never any melee guides?)

I'm trying to level a Paladin with keyclone. I made 2 paladins and run them together.

I made macros so that they somewhat fight well together but I have the problem that after every single fight I have to tell the clone to follow me. Is there any macro or feature to help control 2 Paladins together more smoothly?

I also noticed that this place is nearly void of any melee guides. All existing guides go like this "assist the leader then just FIRE, easy as pie" assuming that everyone makes spell casters.

[Addon] Jamba - An assistant for multiboxers. 12th Update - 0.4d released. ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=12887')

This addon will make your life alot easier. It has an auto-follow after combat feature. Melee Boxing is tricky in that you have to think outside the box when writing your macros.

Here is a melee guide for you.

DOGS OF WAR: A Melee Multi-boxing experiement ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=6559')

And some folks have made addons that can help you with the following problem. Have a look in the macros and addon forum.

I installed jamba and read through the guides. Follow still breaks with every fight (I did set it to auto follow after combat) but now I get a raid warning instead.

Yes, by design. In WoW, melee attacks break follow.

I mapped my Follow macro on each toon to a button on my mouse (out of the way button on the far right) for those times when Jamba doesn't get everyone reorganized (not very often). Makes it easy get everyone lined up for the multi-mob fights when you are running all melee class. Near the very end of the first mob fight I spam the mouse button, so when it dies they all regroup behind the leader to ready for mob2.

Worked well when I was levelling up the 3 pallies.

The second link in my sig leads to my guide on using focus based macros - there's a bit in there on the technique I use with melee classes - and I much prefer melee classes

I just got used to mashing my follow button. >_>

quick and dirty answer:

add /follow to each of your melee attack macros -

/assist focus
/startattack
/cast meleeAbilityOfDoom
/follow focus

for example... if you're mashing your attack keys then you're also firing off lots of follow commands as well.

turn on jamba follow strobing and it will refollow every 1 sec - I use that on a rogue+pally duo and works great - except sometimes I do a shadowstep on the rogue and I don't ambush fast enough and the toon just walk through the mob toward the pally and then get "not in front of you" error...
