The shaman’s Fire Elemental and Spirit Wolves, mage’s Water Elemental, and druid’s Treants have all gained avoidance from area-of-effect damage similar to what warlock and hunter pets already have.

Earth Elemental Totem: The summoned Earth Elemental should now have significantly more health and slightly more armor.

Fire Elemental Totem: The summoned Fire Elemental should now have moderately more health and mana, and its damage scaling has been increased. In addition, the Fire Elemental’s spells now cost less mana.

These notes are from the latest patch 3.1.0 information at http://www.mmo-champion.com/.

This change might finally enable a team of 5 shamans to clear heroics alone with just the elementals tanking just like in good old BC times. I will check this! :)
I tested this on PTR and Live servers and the Earth Elemental has approximately twice as much HP on the PTR plus more amor value to tank even more.
I think together with upcoming healing stream/mana spring ttotem changes this is gonna be fun. Not talking about BG ownage lol.

decent health, nothing fantastic... but I'm sure shamans everywhere will take it!

Beats not. At least they're moderately useful again.

Very nice. The elementals were scaling way too weakly at high levels for such a long cooldown. I might actually have to start using them again, assuming it all makes it to Live.

More benefitting to the teams with multiple shammies though. I don't think I'd give up my only Totem of Wrath to pop the Fire Elemental. The Greater Earth Elemental could be handy for fights where I need to spread the damage around more. HoS event comes to mind.

After a bit of upgrading my 4 other shamies I was able to finally down Ingvar the Plunderer in Utgarde Keep all alone with just 5 Shamies and their Earth Elementals.
Magisters Terrace farming times are back now :) I believe after upgrading a little more by getting all epics from Wintergrasp I can pretty much complete all heroics there. Keep ya posted!

Ohhh sorry. Forgot to mention that I did the heroic version of Utgarde Keep which is the special part about it and which means they are 80 ^^. I tried this on normal pre patch 3.1 and it didnt work out at all.
Currently I have setup 2 Hex to use in emergency cases which are setup through a focus target. On the endboss himself I put out all Earth Elementals, full dps'ed him down durin his phase 1, healed the earth elementals while he resurrected and did the same for phase 2 but with all cooldowns used (elemental master, hero, trinkets). Just make sure you avoid the roars he is doing in both phases since silence to your group is a significant dps loss. My main char is at 2300 spelldmg (t7) and the others at 1600 spelldmg (with flametonge weapon selfbuff and totem of wrath down (w/o glyph)).

Currently I am farming the Wintergrasp items and try to master heroics all without a real tank yeahya
