I want to get this set up ... but I think i just need to go with 6 comps since its more of a resource hog than WoW ... ( my understanding anyway never played WoW much )

Money not an issue really

Would I be better off getting the 6 comps and use one of those keyboards that can control the other 5 accoutns all together ?

or would something else be more Ideal?

been boxing since EQ .. but alwasy done it the old school way .... just control up to three comps at same time in EQ ...

I think with a g15 keyboard and 5 hunters all working off same keyboard and on autofollow of my loremaster ... this may be a good way to do it .. but im clueless on all the new ways to box .... and everything on net seems to be aboutr setting up for WoW

Any help and suggestions would be great ...

ps im new to board and just stumbled upon it ... neat place

Go hardware boxes with a Multiplexer hooked up to a Keyboard or Gamepad that goes to the Hunters PCs.

Then just run your 'main' off its own Keyboard.

P.S.

I am very eager to 6 box LotRO ... and willing to learn better ways of going about it ... i am just so dumb when it gets into computer hardware .. well not dumb just never learned much more than how to run programs :)

I guess I am just trying to say ... I know how to turn a computer on and load up a game and play it heh ... beyond that gets tricky for me heh

So be best to buy the other new 4 pcs like i was thinkin ? is that what your saying ...

I am also not familar with multiplexor? ( I heard others in forums talk about using 1 keyboard for 5 comps but no CLUE how to do it heh .. i think thats what your getting at though

Yea personally, if money wasn't an issue, I'd buy separate boxes for each account.

Try this sticky for some good reading on Hardware Boxing :D PC and Equipment Guide for Multi-Boxing.. By Bradster ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Thread&postID=79589#post79589')

after using search function for LOTRO ... it does nto appear there are many LOTRO players on here that multi box and those that do use software for running a lot on one machine ...

Id like to hear from others who box Lotro ... what is doable and not .... in game macros are very limited compared to last game I played EQ ... i am finding the g15 keyboard cool though .. the 6 g keys are great ...

I assume running any complicated group makeups in lotro is gonan be a real pain ... so was thinking a main LM and 5 hunters ( all doing the same stuff )

anyone in Lotro have a more diverse group and running it well?

I 3-boxed LOTRO. 3 PCs with software broadcasting. I used Multibox back then, but would use Octopus now.

You're right in that it is much more of a system hog, which warranted me getting the 3 boxes (which now run my 5-box WoW flawlessly). I wouldn't say that you need to go completely hardware, but a machine for each account would be ideal. Even with the scripting/macro limitation, I was able to down a lot of the Epic chapter content with only 3 (Guardian, Hunter, Minstrel).

Running a full group would've been a lot of fun, but WoW punched me and forced me to go back.

I played it the exact same way I play WoW.
· Run up to a group of mobs.
· Hit my individual movement keys to move the Hunter and Minstrel, which in turn broke follow.
· Charge the group with my Guardian.
· Begin spamming my rotation, which using target forwarding would cause the Hunter/Minstrel to either attack the mobs or heal the Guardian.

That's pretty much it. You can scale that up to theoretically any sized group and it will work. So, I could add 3 more hunters, or loremasters, or whatever to my group and the technique is still the same.
