View Full Version : Does keyclone work on windows that aren't selected?

I run 2 clients on my main computer and 2 clients on my other computer. Neither of the windows is minimized, they both remain open. Is keyclone going to press keys on both windows? BTW is it legal in EQ2 and Vanguard Saga of Heroes?
I've boxed for a long time always doing it the manual way with lots of keyboards. I even use a foot keyboard (I took all the keys off except for the ones I want to press and just spam them with my feet) However its taking its toll and becoming frustrating and would love something that causes less foot and hand cramps lol
thanks!

I'm a little confused that you're asking this, so please clarify if I'm misunderstanding.
Right now I have 5x WoW open on one computer. One window is active (or would be if I wasn't tabbed into FF) while the other four are visible but do not have focus / are not "selected". They receive keys just fine (as parsed by my DNP list) - which is what Keyclone DOES. Without Keyclone (or an alternative solution), only the window with focus would react to keypresses.
I don't know anything about boxing EQ2 other than that it can be done. I don't think Sony has any official objections seeing as I see EQ2 threads all the time, and EQ has been boxed since time immemorial - but I don't know, since I don't play EQ1/2. Check the wiki.

EQ2 requires all screens to be forced/locked into the forground...or to at least make it think they are in the forground.
I *think* Keyclone has an option for this, but I haven't attempted to use it with EQ2.
Innerspace with ISBoxer will work with EQ2 though (I'm using that now for it), and it will work on multiple computers.
There is more info on it here:

Thanks for the replies. That would be great if we could get confirmation about keyclone in eq2 working with multiple windows because i'm kinda cheap and don't want to buy keyclone if i know it wont work for what I want it for.

You could try to use HotKeyNet for this (its free, so if it doesn'T work, you only wasted time).
Some infos about HKN and Everquest II can be found here: http://www.hotkeynet.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=162

I am 99% sure that the lock in foreground option for keyclone does not work for eq2. I could check, but I'm on WinBeta7, so if it doesn't work, it could be that it doesn't work on the OS, not the game. And I'm too lazy to bug Rob to change my key. Or set it up to use on my Vista install.
You *can* usae Keyclone with EQ2, but the lock-in-foreground option does not work on Keyclone. You would need another program that can lock EQ2 in the foreground, at which point you could use Keyclone for keypassing, maximizer, etc, etc, etc.
Rob has said a few times, it's in the works. I daydream about that day.

Stole your link and added it to the wiki! We'll honestly I have no real experience how good it works out, to box EQ2 with HKN, but by reading the thread I think it should be possible (although, the hotkey-definition might be a little bit complex).
For more infos, maybe ask at the HKN board directly for some help if you want to try it out, normaly Freddie and some other users respond quite quick ;)
