Ok, so like I said in another thread (synergy question), I went to 2 boxes. My 4 slaves are running on one machine, quad core, 4g, 4850 ATI. My tank is running on the new box, 2g, and the 2600 ati and dual core leftover from when I built my original rig. Just flew to Dalaran, and almost immediately after landing, I was able to hit /follow and have my toons follow me to the VH gates without stopping every few seconds for them to catch up.

Hmm. I really need to do this.
wow sucks ram like a mofo...upgrade your ram to 8gigs on the four box machine and enjoy not stopping anywhere at all.

Nice move. Moving the awesomeness to more machines helps :D

I have 4 gigs of ram, and I 5 box. 40 fps on main in dalaran, rest is 25.
Main: /console maxfps 40 /console maxfpsbk 15
Slaves: /console maxfps 25 /console maxfpsbk 15
There you go.

There you go.What resolution do you run at? What settings for performance on graphics etc?
I run 5 clients, 1680x1050, all settings low except view distance which is just over half on all 5 clients.
8gb ram, 3.3ghz amd quad core, 8800GT, and run 20~fps in dalaran and 15fps on background clients - all well and good in my book since it's not like I'm pvping in Dalaran - out in the world I'm pushing 60fps on the main.

I just upgraded to quad core and 8 gigs of ram with windows7 64 bit and a 3disk raid 0. Fired up 5x wow and went to Dalaran and watched it go from awesome sauce to 6seconds per frame lag hell. I spent a good hour or so figuring out how to work the symlink folders and once that was complete dalaran was 30fps on all 5 windows.
It wasn't ram for me but the symlinking of folders that made the entire difference.

(just don't ask about the heat in my office)
Just move somewhere colder and then you will save on heating bills :P
on a more serious note, I've been running 2 machines for my 5, but am seriously tempted to step up to 5 hardware boxing.

Imagine running five separate boxes. :D

QFT.
We just keep the temperature cooler in the whole house, and the computer room (running 10 hardware PCs) is always a couple degrees warmer. Just suck it up and wear a sweatshirt in the rest of the house. ;)
