I've been playing WOW since day 1, but when the Outland's came out I was into boxing so I just mainly quested. I now have my group to 73 so I wanted to try some Heroics for the first time, so I took my group to Blood Furnace. Let me sum this up real quick for you all, I got my ass handed to me!! Wow!!! The first 2 dudes 3 shotted my Druid in bear form. I was so stunned that they went around and wiped my entire group before I could even react from what just happened. What kind of gear do you need to do Heroics? I mostly just have quest greens from Northrend now. Let me say it one more time, handed to me!!

Unlike BC, walking in to Northrend and doing a few quests doesn't give you pre-expansion epic stat'd greens. Level 75-76 quest rewards start to get in to the range of level 70 epics.

This. Doing 70 heroics in greens (even at late-70s) is no guaranteed I-WIN. The gear difference isn't so much a leap as a sensible stroll.

You'll get there, just don't expect to storm through them just cos you're a few levels above. I mean that in an encouraging way, just crack on and build the team up.

is your druid tank specd? you still need that talent that gives you defense, without it your druid will get crit'd and 2 shotted.

Heroics, even in BC, are a good check on your gear and your skills. I can clear normal Ramparts with my 3 without breaking a sweat, and no deaths, but Heroic mode? I'm down on the first mobs!

Try Mechanar. Sometimes all it takes is confidence and Mech is a good place to get it. Honestly, the first boss in Heroic Mech is EASIER on heroic than normal :/ Getting to him is a bit tougher is all.

I hit heroic Ramparts with a 76 healer and 74 tank, and it felt like a normal Northrend instance. So you're almost there, give it a couple levels and you'll burn through it.

I went back and did H Sethekk, messing around for the mount, with my druids when they hit 80. Marginal gear, mostly blues. Owned it. I have wiped there, but because of bad luck pulls, or feared into other adds, etc. Stuff can and will happen, but I can consistently finish that instance. I think the big problem is the gear. At 73, you just won't look significantly different from an ungeared 70, which we know can't do BC heroics, and you're not 80 pimped in abilities yet. Try it again when you've gotten a lot of blues and see if it's not more manageable. BTW, my tank is actually boomkin spec'd and panzerkin geared, so I didn't go in with 30k health and armor and just trash it. It was a pretty honest try. Well, kinda.

The funniest thing is dps burning the first boss with the elemental adds so fast that all 3 elemental spawns occur almost simultaneously and die in a puff.

The mobs in Heroic BF hit really hard.Lol, I found that out even at 80. My bro-in-law just started playing again after a few months of Warhammer and I was running him through instances, basically chain pulling several pulls with my DK and burning them down with 3 of my shammies and magma tots. Well, he was about 66 or so and wanted to do heroic BF. I ran in, started chain pulling (about 8 pulls worth) and was dead before I even got back to my waiting shammy forest. He said the same thing I was thinking, "Damn. Those dudes hit hard."
