Hello fellow boxers. I will tell a bit about myself. I am 16 yo and i really want to begin boxing. Only on this age its kinda hard to get $5k bucks out of your pocket but i do have 2 1600x1200 screens and a good computer and 2 accs. I really want to do 2 boxing 2 mages since it will be nice to play 2 characters instead of one.
My plan is: Getting 2 boxing running with my second screen. I am very new to multi-boxing and i really dont know where to begin with spending money :P
I have some problems and questions. So here are a couple.
I heard i need to buy a copy of Synergy and Keyclone? What do those programs do and are there any tutorials to set them up?
Can my computer handle WoW twice?
Heres a list of my computer:
Windows XP
Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80Ghz
Nvidea GeForce 8800 GTS
Dunno where to find more:P. All stuff in my computer isnt older then 4 months old and i can almost run every game on good quality. @ WoW i have around 70 fps.
Can anyone help me with telling me where to start etc. Im kinda a nib to multi-boxing but i deffently want to do it :P (The cheap way)
Thanks for any trouble you may take,
Negativ1337
(Sorry for my bad english :P Im dutch)

First of all, welcome to the wonderful world of boxing :D
Second I'm fairly new to multiboxing myself, but I'll try to answer some of your questions.
I heard i need to buy a copy of Synergy and Keyclone? What do those programs do and are there any tutorials to set them up?
If you're gonna run 2 instances on 1 comp you don't need a program like synergy AFAIK, only keyclone will do.

I think your comp should be able to run 2 instances just fine.
How much RAM do you have?
I would also suggest to take a look at the stickies, there is a lot of info there on how to setup the various programs, macros etc.
I hope this answers some of your questions, and good luck with boxing
A fellow dutchie :P

Awesome cheers :D
Ehm i have 2 gig ram :D So it will be fine :D
Damn i cant wait to start haha.
Edit: Whats your main boxing name on Stormrage? I dont know what server i will come on i'm thinking of trollbane, since my main is there :P And maybe i can talk with you in-game if i have a problem :D - Im thinking of leveling 2 elemental shamans so i can maybe ask you for some macros aswell :P
If you want to ofc ;)

Hello Negativ1337,
Robash is correct.
1. You don't need Synergy, this is only usefull when you want to use more than one pc.
2. Autohotkeys will do just fine.
All it does ist sending your keystrokes in client one to client two.
There are many tutorials here in the forum on how to set it up.
3. I have a similar computer with just 1gig of ram.
I can run 2 instances of wow with ~20-25 Frames on it.
You should get more than that.
4. As a start you should get Autohotkey and think about your key layout. and interface.
My tip is to make good use of the alt key. That should work fine with two chars.
Two mages should be very easy. Just put (for a frostmage) Frostbold on 1 for both and both will start to cast it when you press 1.

My main on stormrage is Ahorn (bhorn and chorn are my alts :))
And I will be happy to answer any questions you have, if I can.
As for macros, I only use /follow and /assist macros atm, no need for more since I'm only lvl 6, I will be looking into some macros once I get more spells/skills.

Is that instead of keyclones? Since i can save 10$ on it then to look if i boxing really is a thing for me :P
Thanks for the fast reply guys

I actually wouldn't know, I've never used it, only read about it.
But it sounds like a good option to try out multiboxing.
It would be a waste to pay the $10 for keyclone and then you find out boxing isn't for you.
But personally I love keyclone, it has some nice features and it's very easy to setup.

Update: Hahaha awesome, going to activate my 2nd account now and start leveling 2 shamans. I just tested keyclone out @ my friends PC. Is there any options that when i chat i wont let my box say it too? So im the only one typing? And that keyclone automatecly logs in for my second toon?
Cheers

You can blacklist keys in Keyclone.
I would recommend to blacklist the enter key =)
... and a few others.

You can also assign a 'pause' key in keyclone, this puts keyclone on hold and doesn't send the keys to the other wow instance(s).
Just don't forget to turn it back on, I've ran into some serious trouble because of this :)
keyclone

use the override key. override stops keys from being passed... which works well when you are chatting.
by default, the override hotkey is PAUSE. you can set it via setup/override
you will also hear a tone when you enable override and another when you disable it. it will also give you an audio reminder every 20 seconds (by default). all that is configurable
btw... if you bought the license on your friends computer... you will need to transfer it to your home machine (licenses are tied to the cpu)... unless he wants one as well.
if you need to transfer it, just drop me a PM here, or an email to keyclone -at- solidice.com

I've found the enter key makes a good override key. That way you can chat psuedo-normally...
