I will try to keep this thread updated with the latest changes and status of the up and coming game engine.

Here is the latest thread from the game director "Means" on the changes:
http://forums.anarchy-online.com/showthread.php?t=549648

And an example of the model changes:

First off... I'll believe it when I see it. My Doc is sitting at 220/45 and will go back when the graphical update is finished... That said its been in the works for the better part of 3 years, and THIS is the progress they are making? I'm sorry to say it but it'll never come. I'd love to play AO under a gfx engine that didn't tax the CPU, but its just not realistic. PROVE ME WRONG :D

Hey there!

Sure there is doubt but I must say the new Game Director is really breaking the mold. Under his direction they have made many changes people have been requesting for years. How does that translate to the new engine? Directly, it really doesn't, but he is really trying to turn the game around so I'm back either way.

/necro.

Two and a half years later, the overhauled engine has yet to see the light of day...

Fired up my old account last night for funsies. Incredibly my old clanners are still around!

its still a fun game... reminds me of playing Shadowrun on the NES.

Shadowrun on the Genesis was far better.

The addition of daily quests, on an 18hr reset, are a warm welcome! Did an Alien Invasion and a normal RK daily yesterday and each netted a quick level in their respective xp pools.

Rk1 OA is still pretty busy, but not as it once was. Far from barren wasteland though.

Man I remember AO and we were PLing with soldier damage shields and zoning out before dying. After they nerfed that we discovered collection missions in certain areas were always the same map, very small, and the item in the same place. You just ran in touched the item and ran out. It was the fastest way to level.

I remember hitting cap and just sitting in the PVP zones with nobody ever attacking me except snipers shooting me from mountain tops 100 miles away.

Whats it like now?

I'm working on getting my Fixer up to 150 for Sector 10. Going to twink him out and park him there for quite some time. You can roll in well over 30m/hr there.

I never really got into the PvP Tower aspect of AO. I had towers for the buffs they gave, but never defended/raided them.

Considering opening a few FROOB accounts for buffers, MP &/or Trader.

working up MP and trader atm..... MP is a joke to level... couple of imps and buffs and pop our a pet 30 levels above you and just wreck shop on team missions.... lol.

just stick all other alts on follow to the MP and profit :)
