View Full Version : Profit potential of 3.1?

Just a thought, what do you all think the potential for profits will be with the upcoming patch? We have the Arena season ending, and a new one starting after that, so there's profit to made there with gems and such, but I was thinking of dual specs, and what that means: most people will get it...and then realize they need to gear up for that new spec. Armor, cloth, enchants, gems, weapons, glyphs, everything.

I was thinking in terms of how much work I'll have to outfit my 80's, and start stockpiling alt gear for the toons i'm working on now.

So, as I save everything anyway...I might make a nice little profit off this patch, and I might start spending some time on my 80's grinding cloth and leather and ore, herbs, and such. I have a 5 tab guild bank that is stuffed to the gills, and my toons are close to maxxing out their bank slots keeping it all. (I have enough wool to clothe all of Azeroth, I think. Been lagging on first aid, I'll go through it all, no fear).

What do you think? Or is everyone aware, and stockpiling as well?

I did that for S4 and it didnt make me rich.. Had 800-900 arcane dust lying around but it only sold for 20G when S4 first was launched.

S5 wont come with 3.1 and they already stated this, but "shortly" after. Short seems to be 1 month @ Blizzards HQ.

I have been stocking Black Diamonds the last month, since there will be a recipe that can cut a Black Diamond in a random green diamond of its level. And Black Diamonds go for 1g or less. Some nice profits maybe, we'll see.

I don't think you'll be able to gouge on enchanting mats for the first few days of the arena. I think they wipe out arena points season to season now so there isn't going to be a big rush of gear bought in the first few days.

Realize that a lot of people who are going to fully utilize their second spec's probably already have gear for it that's gemmed and enchanted. Dual spec's isn't like a big start button for people to start new sets of gear especially since it's been announced for several months now.

Yes, you will see an increase, but it won't be anything as significant as huge mark ups on items like when inscription was released.

Only thing that will make money directly from Dual-spec = Inscriptions. People will need 2 sets of glyphs so you'll see a spike there then it will go back to how it is now.

most people who will buy the dual spec talent will already have been switching specs regularly. these people would already have two sets of gear, gemmed and enchanted, already in the bank. i see very little potential for profit there.

I respec my main shaman almost 3 times a day. I always carry 3 sets of full gear gemed/enchanated depending on what I'm doing. Dual - Spec will only help when I'm raiding and I need to switch from resto / ele some fights.
