I dunno if this has been posted before, but it's a really good site to tell you your gear, what instances you should focus on, and if any upgrades are avaliable such as gems and enchants and it ranks you in reference to other players. Very nice site, i use it alot, just pick your realm, pop in your toon's name, and click the live check box and search, takes about 24 hours or so to update if you got a new piece of gear.

says my pally has a higher score then my shamans even though he just hit 80 a few days ago while my shamans have been 80 for awhile ><
Anyway, great site. Going to use it a lot for finding what to run for gearing my characters up more.

I like to use Warcrafter (http://www.warcrafter.net).
One example toon is my paly Soap (http://shadowcouncil-us.warcrafter.net/Soap)

i'm not a big fan of the "you are here" raid graphs in be.imba or wow-heroes.. it's not like you're wondering where your next bit of gear will come from once you've reached Heroic Naxx.
I used to like be.Imba, but it's been too long since the class specs were broken and alot are 'still in progress'.

Warcrafter just gives you a plain hard gear levels, and for all toons of all guilds of all servers. it's nice to see where you stand and what other (higher toons) go for.
All the rest i just search on wowhead.

cheers,

I've never used them to see where I'm going, I used them to see where I was. If my toons are comfortably in the middle of the chart for a raid, my husband's tank is nearing the top end of the chart and the rest of my guild is down at the bottom, I know that it's going to be a rough ride starting out until everyone starts to gear away from the bottom end, but it can be done as our MT is nearing overgeared and my healers are not struggling.

to see how the group is going to look like, i check the guild listing on warcrafter and it's easy to have a feel of what level of gear people have.
for example my guild (http://shadowcouncil-us.warcrafter.net/guilds/Oceanic+Guardians?&order=gearScore&flip=desc)
the color coding (green/blue/purple) helps to see right away the level of gear.
