View Full Version : Paladin tanking - macros anyone?

So I've been having a blast 5-boxing with shamans, mages, warlocks, etc. So far I've only played one class but have had five of them. But I'm at the end of my RAF so I'm thinking what my end game strategy is and I'm thinking of going x4 shammy + 1 protection paladin. I've read on some threads that paladins make one of the best tanks because they generate low maintenance threat. Is there a good castsequence macro that could be spammed to do low hassle tanking? Any advice would be appreciated.

There are some pretty good threads discussing just this. If you look under Macro you might find something useful
Here is a link to a thread discussing some Shaman macro's
Elemental Shaman DPS macro figured out. ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=17980')
Another one that talks about /click macro's but there is some good talk of Prot macro's as well.
Utilizing /click to run concurrent castsequences ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=19134')

this doesn't help at all with tanking macro's.
here's mine:
/castrandom Consecration, Avenger's Shield, Holy Shield, Hammer of the Righteous, Shield of Righteousness

A newbish question, I'm sure.
But why do you use /castrandom instead of /castsequence ?

they all have different CD times. castrandom will pick up the one not on a CD since its being spammed.

I think this has been debunked as myth. Castrandom, as I understand it, simply randomly sends one item from the list to the server. Hence, its a good "spam" tool for button mashers. I don't believe it "checks" for cooldowns.

Yeah it doesn't "check" anything. It picks an ability, if its on cooldown you have to hit the button again for it to try another one. You can get unlucky and have it try the same ability 10 times in a row (but of course that is very unlikely).
hence why i said "since its being spammed."

Sure it does... 3rd post of the second link....
Here's a true 969 rotation castsequence. Consecration is later than you'd normally want it with the idea that you manually cast that before the pull.
/castsequence reset=9 Holy Shield,Hammer of the Righteous,Judgement of Wisdom,Shield of Righteousness,Consecration,Hammer of the Righteous,Holy Shield,Shield of Righteousness,Judgement of Wisdom,Hammer of the Righteous,Consecration,Shield of Righteousness
