you are going to want to match your memory exactly ( such as the timing has to be the same )
maybe you can use a program like cpu-z to see what the current memory timings are ( like in DD2-800 memory a typical speed is 5-5-5-15 ) you don't want to mix 4-4-4-14 with 5-5-5-15 ,etc.

anyway, I like to use newegg.com and read the user reviews. don't buy stuff if it sounds like it has a bad rating.

good luck with that

good luck with thatCan always set the CL4 rams too run at CL5 in the BIOS. The other way around is alot trickier and sometimes impossible. :P

Ever think of opening up your computer and looking at the ram itself?

so you have 3 sticks of RAM; each 1 gig sticks. and 3 empty slots?

If true, I would get 6 more gigs and stick them in the open slots.

8 slots for memory on an I7 board. that is VERY unusual.
The i7 boards usually have the memory slots come in groups of 3 ( 3 or 6 ) and people use 1G sticks for 3G or 6G, or 2G sticks for 6G or 12G.

I wonder of the extra two slots are for DD2 memory or something completely off the wall like that and you have to choose DD2 or DD3 memory but not both.
Just wondering why it would have such an odd number of slots for an i7 board.

looks more like six slots for ram.
again... use ddr3 ram.

It calls out 6 slots on the specs. Still not sure how they get 16 gigs max

lol can any 1 give me a link to the kind i need thats the hole point of the post i know i need ddr3 just not shore what to buyCall or mail Gateway and ask them what brand/type of ddr3 modules the motherboard of this system is compatible with.
