Just main tanked and 4x dps for a 25 man vault

Went to vault last night with just my DK to MT 10 man which was obviously cake since I way overgear it. Today I was in Dalaran just finishing Heroic VH and someone wanted a MT + dps for 25 man vault so I told them I'm a 5 boxer and would that be OK - they let me in, AND let me main tank. Considering it was my first time boxing vault (and only my second time there ever, first time in 25 man) I think I did good. My shamans DPS was low on the boss himself because I was still getting used to the boss and trying to make sure my tank did good, so there were some times I ended up not dpsing on my shaman while I was trying to situate my tank. Overall, around 2k dps per shaman (bleh), but my DK did great as a tank. Got deadly gladiator leggings on 1 shaman plus of course emblems of valor x5 (achievement for that too).

Was fast enough and easy enough that I think I'm going to start trying to 5 box 10 and 25 man VoA every time it's up if nothing else for the badges and to get a name for myself on the server :) I should have taken some pictures.

Quick question though - is 4x healing stream totems good enough to heal through the stones he throws? A couple times I had to move my shamans out of them and it made them face the wrong direction which was a huge pain to fix since I couldn't see them and see which direction they were facing - would be easier if I could just 1x chain heal + healing stream totems to counter it. Any advice?

dont worry bout the stones he throws, healers should just heal u up there. The problem is the cloud he drops that does a ton of dmg and reduces ur hit, ull have to move out of that all the time

I was tanking him pretty far from my shamans so I didn't get stuck in the clouds at all - and I always move him out of the clouds when I'm tanking him for the meleers.

One thing I forgot also, my shamans only have 99 hit rating LOL, so they're quite a bit shy of the hit req for raiding, so I'm guessing that was a pretty big hit to their DPS also.

Vault isn't too bad when multiboxing if you know what you're doing :D Its easy marks/gear.

It's fairly easy to get hit capped however.

The 40-badge off-hand Ward of the Violet Citadel has +38 hit. I have both this and the badge shield (with +25 int enchant). I swap in the off-hand for raiding.

Mark of the War Prisoner, a blue trinket off Cyanigosa in VH, adds another 73 hit.

You can socket and enchant your T7 gloves, which already have 38 hit, for another 36 hit.

With the Ward and Mark equipped and one other hit gem in addition to the above, I'm at 241 hit myself.

I get the rest of hit from Snapper Extreme (+40 hit food), which is sufficient for me as a Dranei shaman if there is a Shadow Priest with Misery or Boomkin with improved FF to be hit capped. Otherwise, I can add an Elixir of Accuracy (+45 hit). Without the dranei bonus, you'll need another 1% hit, so either 368 or 289 depending on wether Misery/IFF is going to be up or not as a Horde shammy (with elemental precision talented)

Wouldn't it be better to go to four separate VoAs for the possibility at four pieces of loot or is it easier to bring all four to one to stack the deck so to speak vs. other pug shaman?

I ran a 25 man VoA PUG this past weekend a group I formed. I was MT and OT at the same time. No one except my guild mates (3 of em) knew that the MT and OT were the same person. No problems at all really... but no loot for either of my tanks :(

I've been multiboxing VoA a lot these days. Since I only have 1 toon of each class, I don't lose anything by having more than one in at the same time and I try to often. I'm trying to get to where I can manage to get all 10 in within 1 cycle. Closest I've come so far is 8.

Wouldn't it be better to go to four separate VoAs for the possibility at four pieces of loot or is it easier to bring all four to one to stack the deck so to speak vs. other pug shaman?Better is all relative - honestly I'm not willing to spend 2 1/2 hours each time it's up to run it 5 times (30 minutes is almost a conservative estimate to get a 25 man pug to do ANYTHING on my server - this last run I was waiting outside the portal for 20 minutes just for everyone to show up much less get moving).

I'm really just going for the valor emblems not so much the gear drops.

I'm trying to get to where I can manage to get all 10 in within 1 cycle. Closest I've come so far is 8. Got it this cycle. Finished out my team last night for 10 runs in 1 week. Well it was actually 6 runs to encompass all 10 toons.

5 boxed 10 man vault tonight and then 5 boxed 25 man - getting better at it. On 25 man my shamans were #1,2,5,6 on DPS - would have been 1,2,3,4 except I'm still trying to figure out best placement. First I tried wedging them into a wall but they ended up being too far away to be casting half the time. When I leave them on the stairs they get knocked back too far to fire. What I ended up doing (and had I done this at the beginning I would have been 1-4 on DPS) was just having them stay about 15 yards back from my tank - if I moved, I would have them /follow then stop immediately to get closer but not too close. Also if one of them got turned around somehow I could hit /follow and then back up slightly to realign. All in all it went well, so far in all 3 runs I've 5 boxed everyone has been very receptive to me MTing plus 4 DPS - probably helps that I'm overgeared and I put out more DPS than most other people (Also my DK tank was #11 on the DPS list out of 25 people 21 of which were DPS :P

All in craftable epics. i've run VoA many times on my shamans at 4 dps but this was the first time tanking it. OT was harder since i didn't really have any idea when i was suppose to taunt the boss... so i just randomly taunted him lol. It worked out actually.

It worked out actually.Yeah LOL I get a huge warning when I'm being grabbed or whatever but when the other tank is being grabbed I get nothing. So, when I MT normally I guess you're supposed to wait for the OT to get grabbed before you retaunt after getting grabbed, but I just would immediately retaunt after "recovering" from being thrown and kept aggro through maybe 98% of the fight - worked out just fine - OT only picked up boss when I was in the air.

There's a pattern actually, its something like:

rock shards
jump
rock shards
5-15 seconds later, lunge and grab


So as an OT you can simply wait 5 seconds after the 2nd rock shards, taunt, and then YOU will be grabbed. I've actually run 3 different instances at once many times, where 2 have my shamans DPSing and one has my pally tanking, if you follow the above pattern you barely have to pay attention as an OT since you only tank for about 3-10 seconds every minute.

Did the MT and OT rotation again this week on both 25 man and 10 man. It's pretty cake. There's actually enough lag time between the "lunge" message and the actual pickup of the MT that it's not very challenging at all.... I also rolled later in the week with my guild run doing 4 dps toons. Made 10/10 last week. At 8/10 right now and hope to hit the other 2 tonight.
