Well after starting a day or two ago, I've managed to multi-box 3 UD mages to level 11. Thanks to this really awesome forum. :D

This is something I definitely want to get into. I can't afford a 5-box setup right now, but eventually (within the next few months) I'd like to aim for that.

I'm 3-boxing on a single machine right now. I have an extra $200-$250 I can invest into this, and I'd like to know the best way to spend it (your opinions). Oh yeah, I'm 3 boxing with 1 20 inch monitor...the small text is getting annoying.

I guess what I'm asking is:

Do you think I should get another 19 or 20 inch monitor or save the $250 I have now to build an extra (under) $500 computer.

I think Xzin said in another post that he doesn't recommend adding characters & hardware as you go...but unfortunately that's the path I have to take right now. lol

Here are my specs for my current comp:

Intel Core 2 Duo - 2.13 GHz
ATI Radeon X1950 Pro (256 MB)
2 GB RAM (forgot specs..but its good)

On my current system I have the FPS on my alts set to max 15fps (I haven't even tried higher...I just figured that would make it easier on my system)and my main is set to 60fps.

I'm getting a constant 58-60fps while in Org but there is a slight delay. It takes a min for all the characters to show up on my screen. For some reason they appear on my 2 alts right away.. other then that no lag at all.

Based on my system do you think investing in another monitor right now would be the best thing....or should I save up for a new machine / new video card / ect?

My plan is to level my 3 mages to 70. Once that is finished I'll focus more on 5-boxing and extra hardware.

Anyway...sorry for the long post.

- Andrew

P.S. - I'm on Sen'jin - Horde (PVE) for now. Msg, Qilli (main) Zilli or Xilli if your ever on.

Multibox within your means.

Personally, I'd say it depends on if you want to get into 5 boxing in the near future, go for the new PC. If you are content with 3 boxing and simply want to continue doing that, grab yourself a new monitor.

I have a similar question with regards for hardware (Not trying to hijack the thread just didn't think it needed its own.)

I've been 3 boxing with a AMD+3000, 1900XT and a gig of memory on a 20"with no problems. I just upgraded my cpu to a AMD 64X2 +4400 and Im wondering if I would pull off adding another account.

I'm thinking the three "alts" wouldn't need that much in the way of resources due to being at min settings and no sound and I could minimize the settings on the main as well if it helped. I would run the three across the top with the main on the bottom half at 1680x525.

Again I'm sorry if I'm hijacking the thread, if it's a problem I can repost this in a new one.

I think I decided I'm going to get another monitor for right now.

I'm going to look into upgrading to 4GB RAM and in getting dual video cards.

Would be nice if that was all I needed to run 5 accounts.

I have one more question regarding my hardware (sorry for so many).

With my system what do you think is the max copies of WoW I could run? 3 is going pretty good...lke I said tiny bit laggy in org but nothing to compain about.

Once things start getting laggy, its generally a good idea to start thinking about buying extra hardware if you want to expand further.

EDIT: [@Wilbur posted this reply at the same time. lol. I guess you wouldn't recommend running more then 3 then.]

I made a trial account and tried 4 copies on my single machine and everything ran pretty good (imo). Little bit a lag when first entering a city but thats about it. It tooks 10-20 sec for all of the other players and npc's to show up on screen. Other then that not much lag at all.

I'm taking off in about an hour to buy my second monitor and I'm thinking about picking up another 2 copies of wow (to 5box on my one machine)

Any chance I can get some feedback before spending the $40 on two more copies.

With my specs do you think I'll be ok for the next few month?

(As I said above, I'll probably be adding another machine in a few months)

Answer before I leave for Best Buy..lol

If you don't recommend it..I probably won't get it. haha

Thats a fair amount of lag.

Personally I'd go buy a second computer to play the other characters on.

Quad core, few gigs of RAM, Nvidia 8800GT.

That way you should be able to play your main character on your current PC and the other 4 characters on the other PC.

Its up to you, but personally I'd wait a couple of months and go for the second PC.

It tooks 10-20 sec for all of the other players and npc's to show up on screen.

See.... 20 seconds, to me is COMPLETELY too long. But if it works for you then great, I guess. Might be problematic in PvP and arenas too.
