WotLK Heroic 5-boxing Videos (Now with Ratings)

Perhaps this thread can get stickied. There are quite a lot of threads in the movie forum that have movies that involve strategies for running various instances with various group compositions. I have a running thread in the forum with all of my own Heroic Videos run with DK + 4 Shaman. Since a lot of people don't know the movie forum exists or possibly don't realize there are helpful/strategic videos in there, I thought having a thread in the PvE forum linking to "strategy" videos would be a good idea. Below is the list of videos:

Edit: I have added ratings for my specific group makeup on the difficulty of each dungeon. If anyone else that has contributed videos wants to provide difficulty ratings for their own makeup, please post here or send me a PM and I will add them. Ratings should be on a scale of 3-9 with 9 being the hardest. I consider the lowest score to be a 3 just because 1-2 IMO would be non-heroic instances. I also don't think any heroics deserve a 10 - 10 would mean nearly impossible, and I think the hardest event is just "really hard" :)

I encourage anyone else who has made videos that will be helpful to people trying out instances to post in this thread and also I can compile a list into this first post and organize it by Instance and Group composition.

Hopefully others think this is a good idea. I think everyone can agree that actually seeing someone run an instance can sometimes help more than reading a strategy about it.

my team is half epic geared now and i play tankadin, ele, ele, resto, boomkin and i even have a hard time getting past 1 boss =/
this instance pisses me off =/

Once you get the hang of the first few bosses they're pretty easy - the last boss is sort of a PITA but not too bad after you get used to him - just tedious. IMO the most painful part of the instance is the trash near the 3rd boss through the last boss - some mobs are immune to fire, some immune to nature, and some cast an aoe that can kill your whole team in a few seconds - its really bad, i have yet to complete the instance without wiping on trash at least once.

1) Whats the addon with the grey box (slave communication ?)

2) you hardly loot. Is that normal or just to speed up the run.

In general ? I realized that looting costs lots of time. Is there a way to loot quicker ?

I loot in all dungeons except during the 5 times I was trying to get my bronze drakes in CoS - I can definitely finish CoS now timed with looting but I wanted to show the fastest way to get it done (which involves ignoring loot which does eat up a couple minutes of time).

The box in the lower right that shows my slaves is the addon Multiboxer v2 which hasn't been updated in about a year :D Its amazing it still works. I keep meaning to upgrade to Jamba but I'm lazy as long as this addon keeps working.

If anyone else has made any videos they want me to include in the main post please let me know, I'd like to get an archive going of as many dungeons and group compositions as possible.

About your totems. Are you dropping the same totems with all your shammies or are they mixed ? (just watched part of the HUK Bosses vid)

They're somewhat mixed. I have buttons for various combinations.

The primary drops I use are:

water: 4x mana spring or 4x healing stream
earth: tremor, strength of earth, earthbind, stoneskin
air: nature resistance, wrath of air, windfury (and need to add 1 grounding to this)
fire: totem of wrath + 3x searing (or ToW + 3x magma)

I also have a separate key to drop 4x grounding for magic based fights, and some other one-off combinations like frost resistance, poison cleansing, etc

On the UK vid I was going for the achievement to not shatter any frost tombs so I didn't drop any magma totems or fire elemental totems, but typically I would drop those throughout the fight to kill the frost tombs/adds.

Do you use a castrandom or castsequence macro for your DK?
If you do do you mind sharing it? My DK is having threat issues with my macro. Then again I'm opening with FS and Lavaburst.

I open with FS/Lavaburst as well, but I do give my DK about 1 second to grab aggro first (literally). I start nearly every combat by dropping a DnD directly on the mobs, then spam the following macro:

Hehe cool! Yes the addon I'm using is x-perl - by default the little threat meter is turned off, but somewhere in the config option is a checkbox for a basic threat meter - once you turn that on you get the little floaty things above each party member's health bar. I really like the feature.

I'm still waiting on other people to link me some videos of other group comps so I can link them in the main post - I know theres some DK + healer teams running heroics and video taping it - would be nice to add those in the top, and maybe some teams with a paladin tank or mixed groups!

Added video for Heroic Azjol-Nerub tonight. Dear lord the last boss sucks. This was my first time running the instance, first two bosses were fairly easy. Last boss was a nightmare. I wiped something like 7 times before I figured out the placement I used in the video which helped a lot. The first 6 times I tried standing my shamans by the entrance of the ring, and of course all adds would aggro them immediately. Then I tried running around with them on follow and that was even more of a disaster. Placing them around the side like they are in the video allowed me to spread out so only 1 shaman would get hit with the rocks at a time, and I could pick up adds without them aggroing my shamans.

The only thing that would have made it easier is if I had individual heal keys for my shaman instead of having to use 4x chain heal every time one got spiked. Ate up my mana and I couldn't use healing stream totems because mana was a huge issue so I had to keep down mana springs. You can't see it in the video but I'm using 4x TS occasionally to regain mana.

Cleared UP heroic with 1 prot paladin, 2 ele shamans, 1 resto shaman and a surv hunter..

My paladin is very bad geared with 23k hp, hopefully will show people that its possible to do heroics in bad gear!

But damn it was hard with skadi and his WW, one of thoose casters alive when he landed pretty much wiped me.

Added Heroic Nexus to the list... might try to do Heroic Halls of Stone before my accounts expire as well, we'll see. I did the tribunal once on normal and I really have no desire to experience that pain on heroic. Also the Nexus video shows how to do the Chaos Theory achievement - its really quite easy.

Added video for Halls of Stone, completed today. I don't recommend anyone do this unless you like punishing yourself, or you just want to get the achievements. Brann's event is really the least fun thing to do in the entire game at this point, in my opinion. Hopefully someone can use this to help them through the event though :)

Brann's event is really the least fun thing to do in the entire game at this point, in my opinion.
I'll second that - just experienced the pain first hand this weekend (after avoiding the heroic version for the last few months). Finally completed with Brann at "0%" health... Might go back on toons one by one for the achievement, but I doubt that I will be back with my crew.

This weekend I finally got into some heroics with my pally/4 ele shammy team. Cleared Gun'Drak and DTK, I'll make movies next time and post links here. These instances seem to me like the easiest two to clear when you're not fully geared up (tank still had a green ring on when I started). Last boss of Gun'Drak gave me some trouble, wiped once and got him down the 2nd try -- but it was a very sloppy kill. I also poked my head into Nexus, UK, and UP, and got a few bosses down in each, but I didn't have the time (or gear, likely) to go for clears just yet.

Hachoo's vids are very helpful if you're running a comp like this. Thanks Hachoo!

Hachoo you are the man i was struggling with some heroics till i came across your thread. some metheds worked for me and some didnt. Could be due to the fact i was using a Prot warrior and you use a DK so i just had to change a few details and Booyaa started clearing without any wipes.. Now my Warrior and 4x Elemental sham alts are geared with nothing more to buy with emblems so I geared a Prot palladin with like blues and greens that i saved from past runs 510d 24k hp and cleared heroics with ease. Thx for the vids big help :)

As far as loot goes...

On your main/master/group leader screen...
Set Loot to Master Looter.
Be the Master Looter yourself.
Choose to "Opt out of loot" on your current character.
Set the threshold to the level of loot you'd like to not accidently rot on a corpse (example Blue: Rare).

Now, nothing should sparkle as lootable on your master looter/leader/active toon.
Except if a blue or better item is on a corpse.
At which point you loot it with the active toon, and then choose which toon gets the item from the menu.

Pick Epic/Purple if blues aren't worth looting.
I set my threshold to green's for the 1-60 boosting stage, because I had an enchanter per team.
