You know, there was a time before "ghetto hearthing" was possible and you had to rely on your hearthstone cooldown, or a mage port. I know it's crazy to even try and imagine such harsh living conditions.

I will tell you what, guys. I'll bring this up with the designers. Though the hearthstone is reasonable, since many of you have become used to "ghetto hearth" style travel, it may be deemed an appropriate change.

I can make no promises.

Update: Alright, all -- we're going to make the cooldown on hearthstones 30 minutes when 3.1.0 releases. Enjoy your sweet victory.

Thanks to those who provided feedback constructively.

Thank God, I seriously was pondering leveling up a mage just to port my melee group around!

Won't affect me at all... there was a lot of whining, still not sure why. I get all my AHing done and everything else done just fine without a hearthstone. Only time I ever use my hearth is to transport back from org to Dalaran after making an AH run which I do about once every 2-3 days (haven't ever had a need to use the AH more than once every 2-3 days much less every hour or less).

Yeah its a cool change but I rarely would need it either.

Ill take it though.

I'm not sure why shaman would care about the changes to the hearthstone...

Easier to travel with their death knight(or paladin for most of us) companion?

I'm not sure why shaman would care about the changes to the hearthstone...Why would I use astral recall when I'm traveling with a DK permanently? That would just leave my main in a separate area as my Shamans, which wouldn't work at all. No, the point is I never, ever have to hearth more than once an hour. Once you get epic flying theres really no reason to ever have to - try to condense your trips more - seriously it really doesn't make sense to need this.

Some of us are not perfect, nor are we OCD that we plan it all out in advance. I know there have been tons of times where I have hearthed back to dalaran, only to realize that I didnt get what I needed. Having 4 shaman helps for that, but I really dont enjoy playing them anymore. Anyone without a mage or shaman understands the pain of a 1 hour HS. I was using ghetto hearth extensively when I was leveling JC and BS. I'm glad they did it and will most likely get some use out of it.

My "vacation/fun time" toons will love this change. The lower level continent hopping was just made easier as long as you are bound in Shat. This will not effect any of my 60+ characters.

With this change also comes a change to Ghetto hearthing, when you ghetto hearth, it will send you to the closest graveyard instead of bind point...

So what was the reasoning they gave to change a mechanic (ghetto hearthing) that has been around for over 4 years anyway? It can't possibly be due to mage whinings about ports? I can almost never get one willing to do one for gold(I always let them know I'm willing to pay and not just begging.) I've only ever used it single boxing anyway, but still.
