FPS issues. Please help.

I am Quite sure that I will not have given enough information in one post for anyone to solve my problem so what I hope to acheive by this thread is a collaboration of possible solutions and maybe one of them will help me. Thankyou in advance to anyone that replies.

Recently I took up Dual Boxing on my laptop(More information is needed on this I'm sure but I don't know which information to give, so please, ask questions.), After doing this for a couple of days(2 wows on at the same time), I have noticed a dramatic decrease in the overall fps of my machine. It was store bought with no upgrades, aftermarket. One thing that may be noted is that I had let it get a bit hot(possible overheating issue) months before attempting to dual box. It never did overheat while dual boxing though. Now with 1 copy of wow running I am getting about 5-8 fps in dalaran, 15-20 anywhere else. Wintergrasp is not possible. I was used to 30-40 fps outside of town and 20-25 in, pre-dual-boxing.

If anyone has any sort of information to give or questions to ask, please, be my guest. I appreciate the help

You'll probably, at the very least, want to post your computer specs... RAM, CPU, single core, dual core? Video card? ;)

get a can of compressed air and blow the dust out of your system.

on your slave's wow client (you are using separate folders for each account right?) type this in the chatbox:
/console maxfps 20 <enter>
/console maxbkfps 10 <enter>


on your main client, also enter a max fps amout, probably to about 40 and you should be ok.

Thanks for the ideas, Here's the specs I should have placed in the first post. Yes, I've been using a compressed air can to get the dust out of the fan religiously after the first time that it got hot (about 78 degrees celcius, possibly a little higher. Information gathered from a program called HWMonitor).

As for running my slave from another folder, No. I ran both clients from the same wow folder. I played with just the duo for about 2 days then went back to my main until I get this FPS issue resolved. This is when I encountered the continued lower FPS, when just running 1 client. Hopefully this information will help.

The problem is with the graphics adapter. That is barely enough to run one instance at a decent FPS, never mind two. Also, it seems your video is using 793 MB of the system memory, so you have just a little over 1200 MB for Vista and the 2 WoW instances. I probably would try adjust that to something like 384 or 512, see if that makes a difference. But in essence the video on your laptop is underpowered for WoW.

^Excellent. Ok I will adjust for that and just stick to my good ol' main. Thankyou for the information. Maybe in the future I can afford to have a good enough machine built to multibox :p /economysux
