Well, for those here I'm sure you're not too squeemish about playing with beta software.

Maul is working on Trinity Bars 2. If you're not familure with Trinity Bars, it's a complete action bar replacement

I've seen these question a few hundred times..

"Where can I get an addon that can...
1- Extend the max characters in a macro
2- Give me more macros to use
3- Random macro thing here"

Well, honestly Trinity Bars 2 can do that. (Wow.. I'm sounding like a salesman here).

It has the ability to have an unlimited number of action buttons. As well as having those buttons be macros. It has an "in house" macro editor as well.

What's this mean? An unlimited number of macros effectively.

You can also set up bars that'll target all the normal target designators "Party1, party2, party1pet, targetstarget, etc.." and Maul's mentioned an interest in setting up all the raid designators.

Anyway... Thought I'd hype it up here since I love this mod. If I were a freak, I'd want to marry it... not maul... the mod.

Also, Maul is very active in keeping things working. Yes, some things still need work (thus it's a beta), but it's getting much better with every release.

If all you're lookin for is some kind of macro mod on 'roids, this could be it as well. You don't have to lose your normal action bar of choice.

How is he accomplishing extending macros? I thought Blizzard completely broke that capability a long time ago and made that unavailable to end users.

I don't know lua coding at all to be able to tell you that. I just know that he's got the character limit set to like 3000 at the moment and asked if anyone wanted it higher.

Since it's allowable to chain macros together. I would think if you can create a mod with an unlimited amount of macros, then extending the character limit is a minor thing.

There used to be an AddOn called SuperMacro that offered unlimited macros and a 2000 or 3000 character limit. Blizzard went specifically after that AddOn and completely removed its functionality, much the same as they pursued Decursive.

Yeah, I remember that addon. But that addon was out well before 2.0 and 2.3 did a lot more with functionality for addons and how macros work. So maybe they're allowing it again because it's more of a secure method.

I didn't consider that possibility. I do remember them saying something about "secure" methods on the Forums but I did not pay much attention to it since I am not a LUA dev.
