View Full Version : Targeting question /assist /focustarget /targetlasttarget

Lets assume the following.

I use /focus to set the focus of my shamans to my tank. Now I hit /assist once my tank targeted one mob.

This will make all my shaman targeting the current target of my tank.
Now my tank is tabing through other targets. As long as I do my dps-spells without focustarget, my shaman should stick with the previous set target (set by /assist).

If I want my shaman to hit the current target my tank is tabing to, the focustarget would work (assuming I do not want to use /assist for this purpose). Now, will focustarget switch the target set by /assist or will it be handled like a separate target?

If it does switch I assume that /targetlastarget would help in this case? I want to have my shaman dps the target I give them via /assist but maybe switch to current focustarget and then having them switch back to the original target set by /assist to dps it down.

The idea is, to have my tank tabing through mobs without spreading DPS via focustarget but to assign main targets manually via /assist to them.

Second questions: Lets assume the mob they had via /assit is dying and I forget to give them a new target in time. Is there a way to let them attack my focustarget automatically in case the assist-target dies as long as I do not give them a specific /assist target again?

Well I do this with an ftl, but in general it should also work with an focussystem like this:

1. Create a macro like
/stopmacro [harm,nodead]
/assist focus

Put it on lets say 'AcctionButton10'

2. use a click to that Actionbutton in your dps-spells like:

/click ActionButton10
/cast Fireball

this way, if you have selected a harmfull, nodead target the '/click ActionButton10' does nothing (becasue of /stopmacro [harm, nodead]), but if you haven't a target, your target is friendly or your target is harmfull and dead, the target is updated with the current target of the leader.

..i think the same approach could maybe solve your initial problem.

Separate targets.
