View Full Version : I keep seeing posts about SEARCH for info before you post

I just searched the entire dual-boxing.com site for "SSD"
I can plainly see that there are posts in the hardware section about SSD drives and yet I get ZERO results.

So... for the really dumb question of the month... How do I search for something as simple as SSD ?

click on the butotn to "Forum" first (thats the button next to "Portal")

otherwise, if you do a search within general, it will only search in general.

lol ok well generally, the above was what was explained to me before. but i did try it. /facepalm

in any case... search SOLID STATE and you should find it.

SSD is more commonly used than SOLID STATE DISK.

I guess the search engine just doesn't like 3 letter words ?(

maybe its too short. perhaps.

edit:
i tried:
car
bat
pc
mod
dps
raf
ddr

no go.

but ddr2 works.

The bigger problem is the inability to search for 3-letter words. Searches which should return many results instead return 0, like SSD and RAF.

Here is a link ('http://www.google.com/coop/cse?cx=008057042136573243121%3A8oo5ucbwy-s') to better dual-boxing search.

Its true, google is about 1000x better for finding threads on this forum than the forum's search button, even if you DO go to the forum main page to search.

So now when I need to find something I just go to www.google.com and type "site:dual-boxing.com <search term>" and get a link instantly. I did this to find the latency trick registry edit - searched for half an hour here and couldn't find it but it was the first link that turned up on google.

I find i'm often too lazy to thit the above link, and just use the "site:" feature of google. ala searching for "ssd site:dual-boxing.com" or "read the stickies site:dual-boxing.com"
