(Not sure if anyone cares, but I'm contributing as a return for what I've learned here.)
So I decided to buy a second wow, not to dual box. I wanted to recruit a friend, level a character to 60, then promote a mage to as high as I could go within the first month. Paying for the second month is a no brainer since I have to pay for my normal account anyway, which will just get me a free month. My account is full on the only server I play on. The only classes I do not have at 60+ are a Mage and Hunter. Yeah, I have one of everything but those.
My plan: I want a hunter. I also want a mage, but hate drinking all the time. I've been through the content more times than I care. I have already experienced it all more times than I can stand. Soooo, I decided to dual box and level two hunters, one that I want, and one that I don't care about. This would take advantage of two things. First hunters are mighty easy to level, we all know that. Second, triple exp. After they are both 60, I plan on using the recruit a friend levels to level my stuck at 15 mage. In a perfect world, I'll man up and level the mage to at least 25 first so I can get him higher with the free levels.
So I started out just running two copies of wow, with the second on follow. Frustration mounted rather quickly as the copy of wow in the background was laggy and kept losing auto follow. I offered a RL friend a 60 day game card to level the character with me. He has no job, so he gladly accepted. When it came time to earn the card, he bailed. (No I didn't buy him the card yet.) Anyway. I decided to look up how to dual box. Two days of frustration later, I am leveling two hunters, one of which is only being leveled to promote the mage I want with free levels. The other I am keeping.
I started out trying a lot of the programs listed. Keyclone sounds amazing, but I can't see paying 20 dollars for something I don't plan on doing forever. I ended up giving hotkeynet a shot. At first it was pretty daunting to say the least. I eventually got it to send the jump command to both windows, then 1 through =. Next the macros were set up. Right now I only use two. One to auto follow my main with what I call "the retard". The other assists the focus with auto shot and sends in the pet. Right now, both hunters are level 24, after two days, only one of which was hardcore. I have dpsed WC quite well. The barrens are offically done and I am heading Thousand Needles.
So now the meat of what I'm doing/planning:
Two horde hunters
Ub, A troll hunter (I dig the bow specialization.) Leveling as primarily marks for the higher numbers. With a Ravager. (The main)
Uxg, An orc hunter (Extra Pet damage!) Leveling as primaily BM for obvious reason. (The retard) With a Raptor.
I started out specing them exactly the same. Two days in, I have learned that rather than keep them clones of eachother, I should take advantage of two specs. It started as an annoyance with the retard hunter always being out of range. Six short levels later, he's 3/3 whatever the improved range crap is, and 3/3 the talent to improve +hit. Makes everything easier since he's usually back of the bus anyway.
The ravager on Ub had to go next. Clearly it's a pvp pet with the stun. I picked up a cat. Once I hit high enough level to spec the pets, both were given dash. This helps them actually get into melee range before the mob dies.
Plans down the line:
Ub will be full marks with his cat.
Once viable (usually about 30ish in my experience) Uxg will be BM with the improved range and hit talents from the other trees.
Let downs:
I thought two multishots would be amazing. Turns out two dots are better.
