I know this is a long shot but im hoping someone here may have found the miracle cure.

Ever since I put my new system together few months ago now ive had random crashes, completely random, ive just had wow minimised at the login screen before and had it crash tryin to open it back up.

This hasnt bothered me since Ive been boxing as it didnt really matter, but now for the first time im trying to raid this is really, really annoying. Ive started a thread here http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=15199330398&sid=1 (one of many) with few more details if anyones curious.

Ive had nothing but problems with the card and wow since I bought it, which is a shame for a $750+ aud card. If its not crashing, in boss fights where theres alot of action (mainly 25man) like noth and 4 horsemen I -cannot- do the fight without my video lagging behind like 30secs min, everything will pause or be far far behind, then after anywhere from 30sec-1min it will speed back up and catch up. Im not lagging because i can hear whats going on in vent fine and its like their predicting the future as sure enough it happens when I catch back up!

The card is a radeon 4870X2, system is i7 core with 6gb ram etc, ram is all fine.

This appears to be a common issue with WoW. If you do a google search for error #132 you will get a pretty long list of topics, all relating to issues people have with this error in WoW. Based on the few threads I read, it seems to be due to problems with RAM. I hesitate to say that it's due to "bad memory" or "failing memory" because the people who report the problem claim that they have no problems with any other applications, just WoW. Why a video game requires higher-grade memory than any other application that you may run is beyond me, and it makes it pretty tough to figure out a solution (just buy new memory? How do you know it won't have the same issue?).

I have the same card, and also experienced the same problems until I updated the drivers for the card. Now I know there is no offically driver updates out yet, but I found a link somewhere to the beta driver updates, so applied them. Haven't had a problem since.

Cant remember for the life of me the specific link, but I believe it was on an ATI discussion forum. Hope you sort your problem out soon. :)

I think I've had this problem like twice ever. Never really figured out why but it just kind of happened for some odd reason.

I had this issue once as well and was never able to resolve it, even after replacing every bit of hardware. I ended up reinstalling the game and the problem went away. I now keep a "fresh" copy of the wow folder on a back up drive so I won't ever have to go through the painful install again.

try memtest first.
also, you've mentioned your card as an ati radeon xxxx. the more important question is... who made it? i know who made the chip, but who made the card?

On my laptop I have 2 copies of wow (1 for ultra low detail etc for boxing, and 1 with fullscreen high detail etc for playing solo when im away) - I copied the solo play one over and it crashed also, where I dont have a problem with it on my laptop, so its not the wow install. Ive also tried running with no mods and runnin repair

I ended up rippin out my old 8800GTS from my last machine last night and throwing that in so i'll see how it goes, ill be very surprised if this one bombs out on me cause I never had a problem with it ever, if this one works for awhile i'll know its definatly the card/drivers

Since switching back to my 8800GTS ive had 0 problems again.

Has anyone here got a ati 48XX series card and NOT have random crashes? even a single gpu card

I had a 4870x2 and I would get a "display driver has stopped working but has recovered" error a few times a day and somtimes it would start going black and pop up that error but then crash. I returned it and got two 280GTXs, no more crashes.

When I upgraded to a 4870 X2 from a GTX8800, occasionally one or two of my keyclone slave windows would freeze after landing from a flightpath.
Further reducing the maximum background frames per second removed this issue.
Odd on that, because the new card is substantially stronger then the old card, and the main window runs smoothly with every effect on, which the old card could not do.
