View Full Version : Looking to upgrade my spot

I have hit a brick wall of sorts with my team. We are 77 but can't fly. I've used up all of the quests that are worthwhiel (clumped, very little collection, etc) and I don't want to instance grind as I am doing that with my second team. I'm farming the 5k for my cold weather flying. What I have been doing is running along the mountain near Nesingwary's mining, killing beasts for leather and DEing the few greens I get. The trouble is, I am only able to round up 5, maybe 6, mobs before they start running back to their path area. I tried the undead area to the north but the mobs that are close together give no xp or loot :/ I have also tried in Dragonblight but I haven't found a better spot than I'm using. I run primarily 9a.m. to 1p.m. EST so I'm not too worried about crowding. Anyone have a spot you can recommend?

I don't have an herbalist, btw.

I'm a little confused as to where your money went. Gold gained from quests from 70 to 77 should be WAY more than enough to pay for cold weather flying unless you were visiting the AH eveyr level and buying new gear for some strange reason. Did you grind it a lot that you weren't getting gold from quests and selling the crap quests gear? You might need to go back and do some of the crappy collection quests. Unless they changed it, the old school Isle dailies still give gold and about 10k XP. Hit up the multibox friendly dailies in Northrend if you want.

No, I don't use the AH. I hit 70 right before WOTLK. What I did do was use gathered mats (leather, dust from my greens from quests and drops and mining mats) to gear up until 75. Quest rewards in mail are melee and plate are ret. Let's keep the post on topic please.

I am looking for a grinding spot, does anyone have one I could try?

I cna't think of any spots outside of instances that make money quick enough to fund 5 toons. I ended up grinding a lot of instances when I ran out of gold (I didn't even have regular flying at 77). UTK and Old Kingdom were a breeze and good gold if you disenchant, and I probably got 3 or 4 levels from those isntances and the other 6 from quests.

I think you'll do better better gold/hour doing the Grizzly Hills dailies; although that's limited in how much you can make per day it sounds like you have another team you're working on at the same time.

The idea of grinding leather as a multiboxer makes my teeth hurt. Stacks of Borean leather go for under 8 g on my server. Farming it outside of instances is gonna be very inefficient since you'll only usually get 1 per mob and you are limited not by firepower but tethering in pulling multiples. You can probably make more money farming some rugged leather on your single pally in dire maul north than on your team farming borean.

I guess if I were going to grind mobs for money, I would do so in storm peaks; now that the relics of ulduar aren't soulbound, they sell for a pretty ridiculous price. You're still gonna be mob-starved as a multiboxer, though.

The Relics of Ulduar page on wowhead has a number of suggested farming locations:

Some of these may require a flying mount; not sure as I was flying by the time I got to storm peaks.

Old school dailies on the isle. I think they give 10k xp each at 77 (could be wrong) and take little time to do. Northrend dailies that are multi-boxer friendly (I'm trying to help you get your gold for your cold weather flying). But if you want pure grind, I'd suggest you went with the highest level dungeon your group composition can handle. At 77, I'd look at OK, DK and then VH. If you don't want to instance grind, based upon what you've said your primary gather professions are skinning and mining.. so I'd suggest Scholazar Basin since nearly everything in that zone is skinnable and there's plenty of Saronite along the mountains. I'd stick mostly to the southwest corner of the map.

Good suggestions. The IQ dailies are still pretty nice. The gold per is low but they are so easy. I did those until exalted on my quad right before the expansion. The only thing that makes the leather grind feasible is the abundance of ore that I pick up and the oddly inflated prices on rhino and cold meat on my server :/

I'll try VH. I was just a bit undergeared for it at 76, but I just picked up 90 SP on each MH weapon so that might help :/

Just for clarification, you are farming 5 X 1k = 5k or 5 X 5k?? I only have normal flying myself, but I did get cold weather flying for questing. Not the best, but at least I can continue questing for $ to get epic flying.

1,000g X 5. I have epic flying on all toons, but no cold flying.

VH gave me problems. 2 bosses I can't beat; the last boss and the Xevozz or whatever guy. He owns me :/ I'm only see 850-900 dps per dude (about 500 from my tank and healer) so that could be my problem in there. It's a double edged sword. If I use the enchanting mats and enchant my new weapons and new chests, I'll kill more efficiently, but it will take longer to replace the cash I could have gotten from just selling those mats, lol. I need the cold weather flying to get to places where I can quest to 80 and make more money :/

I'm up to 2k gold so I should get it in the next week, or so.

if you still have issues flying in northrend, go to K3. they have flying mounts you can "rent". talk to the person next to the flight master, i think. not epic speed though, so you'll be flying slow until you get cold weather flying. oh... and it only works in stormpeaks, so i suggest you get your sons of hodir rep going. first quest... "they took our men" leads you all the way through to neutral with sons of hodir.

*also, when on these loaner mounts, do not log out while flying. when you log back in, you will be without a mount, and will fall, and will probably die. x5. this is only for the loaner mounts.

stop just grinding and start mining and herbing.
you are already in the best place for it, just make huge circles around the place killing, skinning, herbing and mining as you go. off hours like you are doing are even better.
sell everything, if you aren't sure wheter D/E gives you more cash then just vendor the greens.

even the outland herbs and ore sell pretty good too.

I'm still trying to figure out how you could get to 77 without having money. I was broke when the expansion came out and had well over 1000g on each toon by the time I hit 77, just from questing and selling greys and quest items I couldn't use.

I have epic flying on all toons
That's 27,000g. That's how I'm broke.

I have epic flying on all toons
That's 27,000g. That's how I'm broke.thats not including the flying mounts.
also dont forget about the cost of ground epic riding (about 500 gold each, and if he bought his mounts after patch 2.4, 30 gold for the basic riding. you have to buy those first).
