2.4ghz Dual Core processor

4gb DDR2 ram

512mb Geforce 9800 XT

XP pro

I currently quad box with little issues. Main at mid settings and alts at low. Just wondering if I could make the next jump up to 5 boxing with these specs.. Or if I should look into getting another slave box.

you can, it will laggy in some spots, i have very similar specs on my desktop and i could run 5 but lagged like crazy in major cities, i got a second pc and hooked all the slaves up to it and have my desktop with those specs set to high video settings and never get any lag

just upgrade to 8G of RAM and you should be fine 5boxing. you may get a little lag in cities and high population areas but if you get 4G more RAM you should have no problem 5boxing.

if your motherboard won't support 4G more RAM then you would be best off either replacing it or getting another box for either a slave or your main (i would go with main but that's just me)

hope this helps some ^_^

~YYF4got to say that if you get another computer you might want to think about getting another dual core at least that could run 2 or 3 instances of wow. that way you can take a little load off of your current dual core CPU. run your main and 1 slave off of 1 computer and 3 slaves off the other. you don't have to worry about any kind of hardware to broadcast keystrokes to the other computer/slaves because there are plenty of software programs that will allow you to do this. keyclone is one just to name a program.

hope this helps some^_^

I run 4 with almost similar specs without issues. Since I upgraded to a 9800GTX+ I only have the slightest lag when I enter a large city but after the initial data getting to my computer it clears up fine and I have no problems.

if you don't want to spend any money for an upgrade you might not need (but if you are seriously considering 5 boxing 8G ram is just about a must, even upgrading from 4 to 8 with your current specs will improve your performance in cities and high pop areas) i would suggest you just try 5 boxing with a trial account and take all 5 of your characters into cities and places where you already may have some lag issues and if your system is playable by your standards then you could probably hold off upgrading for a little while. but if you are going to 5 box just about everybody here would recommend you increase your RAM from 4G to 8G.

hope this helps ^_^

Thanks for all the replies. I will try it out with a 5th trial account and see how it performs. If not I have a few boxes around that I can add. I was just hoping this machine would be good enough. Will run some tests and see what i can squeeze out of this thing. lol.

Yea i 5 box on the same settings as yours atm. I am finding out though running 3 np 4 starts to get choppy at times and 5 is like a nightmare. Its called you'll be fine for a little bit then your fps will drop out causing you to lose follow or not be able to move so and so on. At this time i am currently looking for a reg box for my slaves and im going to use my laptop just for my main. Since i cant upgrade my computer to 4 gb of ram since motherboard wont allow it.
