Interesting but it seemed a bit staged. The camera operator was making no sounds until the end. Anyone who actually saw something like that couldn't help but to say 'oh my god' or something. probably a fake.

eh just a made movie, not even pretending to be real. I wish we(earth) had an encounter with aliens by now =/

the fly-by is very similar to recordings people make of f-16 as they fly passed...

and yes, it would be very cool, if not a bit hairy... since we would be exceedingly young to anyone showing up here... independence day is a fairly accurate representation of the size of a force showing up here (the movie itself was radically far fetched... but the earthlings have to survive somehow)

Cool hmm ? nice video, fake of course, but nice still
Haven't you seen Stargate yet ? most Aliens are not friendly... and if a real encounter is made someday, you can only pray for it to be really friendly.. otherwise we'll be in serious trouble
I wish we're not the feeding ground of some stased aliens far far away from here just waiting to wake up and come straight to us to suck our lives out of.... ahem ... I should probably spend less time in front of my TV watching tv series .. :)

Well, friendly, unfriendly.

If there's aliens out there capable of star travel, at the least it insinuates that they have civilisation and therefor some form of values. Then again, if far superior, do they really have an interest in opening up communications? Probably not.

We just have to pray there's no advanced alien life out there in search of a suitable planet to live on. xP

Wait this looks very farmiliar....

There is a video of some very nice alien ships up close and personal that was on youtube about 6 months ago... come to find out a few days later the author finally came forward and said it was fake and how he could make it look very real..he used the same ships that are in this video...

I'll see if i can find it and you can be the judge...

Here it is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=up5jmbSjWkw

the aesthetics look human-made to me

the thing is, unless the alien race also has sight as its primary sense,
their architecture probably won't look remotely "cool" to us humans

Just imagine that bunch of tree hugers will end up runing the place (After wining an election or so) and actually make a difrance and "help the planet" .. only to end up getting overrun by aliens that look for a new home =p
I guess that in such senario I would shoot some tree hugers thinking *you bustrds* =p

So... who here loves Stargate SG-1 ?

Both Stephen Hawking and Carl Sagan have been both quoted with pessimistic feelings about future alien encounters. I will defer to their greater intelligence and perspective on the matter. Any such meeting would be disastrous for mankind. A species that can travel a large distance to get here would be far superior to us technologically. They wouldn't be spending such resources just to come here and shake hands.

Why do always people assume that they will actually land on the planet to clean us out like in 99% of the alien movies?

Just take a look on how weak we are towards bio terror wich can be created in your own kitchen most likley.

1. Drop a virus,disease,pest on the planet/humans.
2. profit

Wouldnt it be faster to just nuke the place? I mean if you are after minerals and all.

"Hey Beeter, look at this cool virus I developed. It has a 100% human mortality rate!"
"Neat, how long will it take?"
"Oh 20 days if we spread it effectively."
"Hmm, how about I just push the Fire Laser button and kill them now?"
"Not cool man.... not cool."

how would it go? well... consider what happens when you find a nice lake you'd like to place a big house on. you start mowing down trees and using the lake however you see fit. it's yours. you fish the waters, plant/mow grass.. and do basically whatever you want, because it's your and no one is taking it from you.

meanwhile... did you even stop to consider the frogs? of course not. their culture? lol. their medicine? please.

you just better hope the visitors/new inhabitants don't have a taste for frog legs

So... who here loves Stargate SG-1 ?

SG-1 and Atlantis, got them all on DvD. >.>

Ditto, except Atlantis season 5 isn't out on dvd yet, so still have the downloaded torrents on the system until they're released.

*cough*

Kinda streamed season 5 online. >.> But aye, also gonna get that on dvd. :P

The new Stargate in the making I dunno though. I don't quite like the plot of it. But will have to see how that turns out. :P

The new Stargate in the making I dunno thoughwhich one? i think i've seen all Stargate related shows/movies. i've seen ark of truth & continuum... do you mean stargate universe?

Kaynin
02-13-2009, 05:07 PM
Yeah, Universe. Isn't looking too promising to me.

But ofcourse, they're still casting for that and stuff, not much known. Knowing it's made by the same writers it will probably be decent. But meh, stuck on a ship kinda thing. *shrug*. They should just put Rodney in that show, then it's automatically good.

keyclone
02-13-2009, 05:12 PM
i'm just hoping they don't introduce a kid (ala TNG's wesley)... if they do, the franchise will have jumped the shark

what i don't quite get is why they are stuck on the ship. it goes to planets where there are gates and will leave within a time frame (get back or be left behind). ok... why not use the gate to gate back to atlantis? don't know the base address? (which i always thought was stupid... no need to have the local gate state it's location)

Kaynin
02-13-2009, 07:29 PM
Well, it's something to do with the ship having some kind of very important mission. And because they want to finish that mission they go with the ship, but they cant see where the ship is going and would never be able to catch up again if they would leave.

That explains them staying, but it's still just.. Weird.. Technology has never stood in the way of what is and isn't possible in Stargate. :P Get some Mckay to hotwire the damned thing already and voila. Or whatever.

Like I said tho, will have to see how it playes out when they launch, I just find the whole plot a bit dodgy. xP
