What was your played time? I'm wondering how I did.
Mine was 10 days 15 hrs.

</shameless competition>

Edit: Nevermind, it was 10 days 11 hrs. http://www.imagedump.com/index.cgi?pick=get&tp=522041

My 5-man team on Mag took right at about 18days, 19hours.

My 4-man shadow priest team took right around 20 days.

My 4-man fire/arcane mage team was just under 17 days.

The mage team did not level anything but gathering professions and enchanting to d/e drops. The priests all had gathering, enchanting and about 350 tailoring before I stopped. The priest+locks have 300 tailoring x5, 350 enchanting and 240 mining, 301 herbalism and about 200 skinning at the time I hit 70.

[edit] To answer your question about how I leveled, I did straight quests minus the really annoying collection ones (I did do most of the collection quests) up through 33. At 33, I farmed SM for drops from doan and the cathedral. I ran every instance at level when the quests became available, with the exception of BRD as I just despise that instance. Tried Stratholme at 57 but was just too tedious. Was easy mode at 60. Tried Hellfire Ramparts at 62 but wiped on nazan due to fire breath and having to move all the time to avoid the pools of fire. Ran it again at 68 and was easy mode.

Once I got to 58, I went to outlands.

For anyone under 60, I would definitely do all the old world quests you could before going to outlands. The quest XP is awesome, with the dungeon quests in scholomance/stratholme generating 15k XP per quest versus the 6k each they used to give. ;)

That's pretty good for leveling all those professions, it would seem.

@Texic: With the exception of gathering quests, I did every quest I could get my hands on. To make up for the kill XP a normal solo character would get, I would farm instances. My farming basically consisted of: find an instance, clear about 15 minutes worth of it, reset and repeat. Over and over and over again. You get pretty good at the pulls after a while and it goes quick. In Sethekk Halls I was pulling about 170k/hr at level 69. That was clearing through the first boss and resetting. I usually cleared each instance I did at least once though.
You have to consider too that 5 ele shaman is all DPS, so if you're a standard group the leveling is slower.

4x Shaman hit lvl 70 in a little under 7 days played. The time may seem impressive but I was bent on doing nothing but leveling.

Did you follow a similar route as the rest? Instances and quests or did you do 1 more than the other?

Also Ellay can you delete my post above. I don't want to fill the thread with me asking each person so I was going to remove them once people answered but apparently I cannot delete my post.

15 days played,

I am sure at least 3 days of that could have been shaved off, but I spent too much time Killing Higher lvl enemy players & shamelessly camping them until they logged off, spirit rezzed, or called several friends in.

Most of my leveling was done grinding instances with AOE until outlands, where I quested because the instances just werent as AOE friendly out there.

I don't even begin to comprehend the focus it must take to get to 70 in under 10 days. I enjoy running around killing people too much.

how much played you have when you hit 70 depends highly on how in a rush you are to get leveled up.

If you're aiming to level in about a month, you will allmost have no rested while leveling up, thus increasing your leveling time a lot

If you're just level when you have rested xp (aka using 3-4 months) you will have a lot less /played when you hit 70.

My point is, you cant decide how efficiant you have been only by looking at your /played time at lvl 70

Generally, I follow James' Horde leveling guide on wow-pro.com for what, where and when. I say generally because some of the elite/hard quests you can "solo" easily as a boxer, where some of the solo collection quests are terribly inefficient.

I maintain that if somebody took the time and effort to put together a nice, well made 2-5 boxing guide (with a boxer only quest order - no collections, etc), bundled it with some nice keyclone/maximizer/synergy(?) software, a Xkeys pro hardware input and custom UI mods, and maybe some new account bundles there would be a market for it. How big? Not sure. But enough to be worth the time? Probably.

You could even sell custom computers, even as an affiliate link to Dell - setup and tested with enough power to X (2-5) box with.

I just have no desire to do that.

And yet people are buying $4500 WoW laptops to play single accounts with.

It's easy... Level 1-5: Do the quests in your noob area, slaughter anything you can target, generally it takes 1 cast to kill it. Up to +4/5 levels it may take 2 casts.

Level 6-10 do all the quests outside your noobie area, if your setup right collections aren't that big of a pain in the ass unless the drop rates suck - if you finish all the quests in an area before you are mostly done with the collection quests on all the toons - drop them. Since you are 1 shotting everything near you for kill xp you will make up for it easily enough. If you still haven't hit 10 and are out of quests, find a spot with TONS of mobs and grind. Horde near Razor hill has two spots that are good for this - the humans near the shore and the razormains. I did a level and a half on the razormains in about an hour with my 5 box team.

Level 11-20 go to the barrens, quest your ass off. Again it's a matter of doing the quests, dont get OCD about completing them all but pick them all up. You would be very suprised how fast they go even on a 5 box.

Now one thing to keep in mind - I generally only play my boxing teams on weekends. That means each weekend I have 1.5 levels of rested XP. This wasn't as big of an impact on levels 1-20 but it certainly helped accelerate my leveling/time played in the higher levels.

Training yourself to spot the shitty drop rate quests is important, the quest in TM for the spider ichor and bear tongues has always been a huge pain in the ass for me single play, but when I took team doublemint through it was easy as hell, I slaughtered everything in sight as I went from quest to quest and eventually had all I needed. The way I handle looting is put it on FFA, let the main character loot EVERYTHING and then check the alts for sparkles, if there are sparkles, there are quest items they need... grab em up and move on. Takes about 1-2 seconds longer to loot once you have the method down. Oh and autoloot is your friend! Make sure you put that on in your options, you right click a corpse and move on to the next one, most often I never even see the loot box show up, but all the items get picked up.

Of course bagspace is vital to have lots of, but netherweave bags are 5g right now on my server, so outfitting all my toons with 5x16 x 5 char = 400 loot slots. As your main gets full pass all your GRAY items off to an alt. Use a mod like Automaton so when you hit a vendor all your grays sell automatically... then each time you are in town click the vendor.

Ellay do you remember your time /played to level 60? A guy on EJ said he was able to do it in 2d9h powerleveling stockades 20-30, SM 30-45, and Strat from 45-60.

Ya it was something crazy like 2 days as well, but I don't have specifics on it - I really wasn't doing it to try to break any records ><

Currently, I just dinged 50 last night and I'm sitting at 2d12h in average on all shamans. One of them is at 2d23h because he's my enchanter/tailor so I spend time building up skills with him.

Although I have to mention, I already have one 70 shaman helping out in instances making it alot easy.
