View Full Version : How do you handle your gold?

OK, here's an odd question - how do you keep track of your gold? Do you put it all in your guild bank, send it to an alt, have your group main hold on to it? I'm just curious as to how you keep track of it.
I've just had gold on every character and it turns into a bit of a headache keeping track of how much money I have total sometimes for big purchases.

ME honestly i have a banker with all tabs open. I send them all greens and blues that arent soulbound all meats for cooking cloth and other odds and ends including money. Then on my banker i sort it all out and throw it in my bank. This way i think each char has a max of 300g at all times for repairs and flying the rest accumilates in the bank. So i dont have to worry about it. Then when i need something my banker will trade or mail whats needed. Put it this way in my cloth tab i have 3/4 full with stacks of frostweave atm lol. Not selling they are for bags.
Have all my characters in my guild, each charcter has maximum of 200g at a time. Load stuff into bank.

my main is in a real guild, so all excess money goes into primary deposit, which is my guild bank for my multiboxing clones
i also have four alts on my main account each with their own mule guild banks, with about 1kg in each for misc purchases

For my alts, I made guild and got the guild bank going. I used to just use altoholic until I got multiple accounts. I'd mail stuff back and forth.
Now I just throw everything in the GB so any char expect my main guys can get whatever. Love that guild bank. :D

1. guild bank has most of my gold.
2. designated bank alt has a large chunk of gold (no more than 5k though) to buy/sell items. i still play the ah at times, and this alt has had many instances where he did have to buy 50 stacks of this, and 40 stacks of that. etc.
3. titan panel keeps track of gold on all my characters, plus gives me a total... on my main account. my alts (on my main and alt accounts) have about 200-400 gold.

At the end of each daily quest session, I sell any greys/unusable items, trade all to my group main except for 10g for flight (Jamba auto-repairs when interacting with a vendor, so that's taken care of) and send it to my bank alt. He then saves it towards the cheapest BoE epic upgrade from the AH (all shammies are getting the same gear, so it's just a matter of what item happens to be the best price ATM). The bank alt is on the same account as my group main, so he can get the cash instantly and send something bought instantly.

I've got a good memory and can roughly recall how much is on each char. A quick glance when alt tabbing to talk to an NPC keep sme updated.

It all gets spent on skills at the moment, mounts at 30? Hah, luxury!
It really depends on what is going on. My level 75 dks each have almost 2k each on them right now but that is only because I have nothing to spend gold on. At 80 I will start gearing one of them and get him an epic flyer they will probably go down to 40g each, enough to do repairs if needed.
If you are asking about loot in general I loot with the main and dump everything on the alts when his bags get full. Greens are sent to my enchanter to be DE'd, blues and other valuables are sent to a bank character to be stored or sold.
Other then training and mounts I never buy anything until I hit the level cap. All there really is worth buying is a couple epics for each class/build and your raid consumables even at 80.
It all gets spent on skills at the moment, mounts at 30? Hah, luxury!I don't even start looting until the mid-late 50s so yeah, mounts at 30 only if you already have the gold on your main. Most people are going to have at least one character they can use to get mount money before they start boxing, you have to be some kind of EQ reject with more money then sense to start boxing a bunch of characters having never even tried playing the game ;)

I disagree, I know a few people who have started wow as boxers because of forums like these and articles done on boxers. Most of them haven't even played EQ.

All toons put all gold except 20 gold into the bank, and they rarely spend it.
Repairs are from the guild bank.
Only one toon - GM - can take more than 75g per day, but all can take 250 items from the bank daily.
When toons are near a training level ding, I don't deposit, so they have funds for it - and if they run short, the guild bank pays for it. 75g covers that, usually.
I rarely buy from the AH, so it works, and I only have to worry about auctions on one toon.

Don't you trust your slaves or something lol?
I've got one trading char which's used to sell blues and boe epics to the ah. Gold from selling goes back to my main. A 2nd low char is used as bank for the stuff often used to high level profession skills (fire, ice, water in their variations for example).
My chars have all professions and everyone stores the stuff used for his profession by itself. So my tailor holds all cloth, the green non soulbound things goes directly after every run to the enchanter and he stores the dissed stuff.
Gold is hold on all chars (I've only one team (5x80)). If one needs to buy anything and has not enough money, he gets it from the other chars. So it doesn't matter who has the gold actually in his bag. It's one team and all gold belongs to all chars. If one becomes more powerfull through buying something, the whole team becomes better.
Maybe I've to say that my team is in a raiding guild. I played in this guild solo for a long time, so they accept my team also when i'm not raiding anymore since I've started to box.

I used to try and consolodate, but at this point it's a pain in the butt. I know I have about 7k on my alliance AH mule {I don't even PLAY alliance, but with a crappy server balance, some stuff is just worth buying and xfaction transferring}. My boxers all have about 2k per slave, my mains have somewhere between 3-5k on each. My abandoned alts all probably have about 200-500g each and my horde AH lacky has about 50k right now.
I should probably move it all to one place, but I never remember too. It's easier just to have the money if I need it and not worry about it otherwise. It gets kind of annoying to have to keep swapping to another toon to fish crap out of the bank for alts {I am guilded so I don't have full access to the guild bank on all my toons, only on one, as a safety precaution}. I've got enough to micromanage with tradeskills, reagents, etc, I'll pass on micromanaging my cash too ;)

Once I formed my own guild, I pretty much dumped everything into it. Anything that is not soulbound goes into the bank, and all gold goes into the bank, except for 100 gold for each character. How did I manage my character's gold before this? I didn't! And I didn't realize how much better it is to have it all in one place until I started using the guild bank. When you have every available profession, a guild bank is a godsend. Especially now, with so many crafting professions dependent on the same gathering professions and so much crossover. I don't have to try and figure out who has what materials... they're all in the bank!

I do the exact same thing. Makes life so much easier to keep track of your accounting by just looking at how much gold you have to spend than to count it up on every character.

Don't you trust your slaves or something lol? At least Gadzooks' slaves have access to the guildbank. My characters get to keep 200g for spending, everything else gets sent to my banker who is the only character in that guild.

I have a bank toon and a mboxing guild that has 4 mboxers in it.
I believe all 4 mboxers had full access to the guild bank, you don't put something in there that you don't want taken by someone else.
my bank toon holds all of my cash and sells/buys stuff for the team and then transfers whatever is need to the others either via guild bank or mail.
I mail everything to the bank toon and he redistributes it back out ( like cloth to the tailor, etc )
I really only use the guild bank if I need immediate transfers.
oh yeah, I have the blizzard authenticator so all of my accounts are safe... don't wow without it.

I spend gold on fast flying mount training. I still have a LOT to go :-)
