I'm currently just about to ding level 76 on my team and have mainly been running instances for rested XP over. And over. And over. And over again. I've done about half of Howling Fjord and Borean Tundra as well.

Now, I had been planning to keep instance running and then doing all the quests at 80 for increased gold as I'm about 15,000G shy of having enough money for all epic flyers on the team. However, I don't think I can face a) any more instance levelling and b) going through what is effectively levelling 70-80 again to make money. So I'm thinking of killing two birds with one stone and using Suvega's TourGuide data to make the money I need and level up at the same time.

If I was to have the following full zones available between now and 80

Dragonblight
Grizzly Hills
Scholazar Basin
Zul Drak
Storm Peaks

a) Do you think I would have enough money at 80 (3,000G per toon) to sort out my flying skills?

b) At 76 is there an optimum zone for me to start with? IE do later zones give more money for quests?

Would appreciate thoughts from those who have levelled through Wrath and know how the money came in. It's all about having the dosh when I hit 80 (or earlier :) ) to walk up and buy my epic flyers. After 4 more levels. Is it even possible?

Thanks for opinions.

I think it would be pretty tight, I leveled 4 toons from 70 to 80 through all quests, I had enough gold to get 2 of them epic flyers, with not much left. I had mining but used all my ore to level two characters in blacksmithing, I didn't have a skinner, so if you had some gathering professions you might be able to top it off.

I am just starting my shammy team from 70 and through 70, and 71 have been doing BC heriocs to build some gear, I was hoping the WOLK instances would give more xp and make it faster to level, doesn't sound like this is true? :-(

I hit 80 on my 5 characters on the last few quests in Sholazar. That left Storm Peak and Ice Crown at 80 - I made over 20,000g just finishing up the quests in those 2 zones. Hope that answers your question.

I levelled 70-80 by questing the various zones and ended up dinging 80 by shalozar. This left Zul'drak, icecrown, and storm peaks completely-unquested, and about half of shalozar, and that turned out to be worth about 5Kg per toon iirc. In fact now that I think about it, I haven't even done Zul'drak on my shammies.

Definitely do Borean and HF before you ding 78, as the level 70/71 quests will grey out at 79/80. Grey quests don't pay very well.

Edit: I never used up all the rest on any of my toons levelling, this likely helped a bit.

It's not so bad - problem for me is that they're shorter so even if (picking numbers out my behind) a wrath run takes an hour and gets you 250,000 rested XP, whereas a TBC took 2.5-3hours and got you 750,000 rested xp it gets more repetitive, more quickly. For me at least.

I made over 20,000g just finishing up the quests in those 2 zones. Hope that answers your question.

Yes I think so :)

Thanks for replies.

why start so late? as soon as you get your cold weather flying, get a normal flyer and start with your Ebon Blade, Argent Crusade and Sons of Hodir quests. they will lead to dailies. do your dailies. just my suggestion.

Yes I think so too

Just as a comparison, I made 6k questing in BEM, SMV, Netherstorm because I hit 70 in Nagrand. Some of them also come from selling DE's greens, herbs skins etc. So they're not all quest rewards per se.

Right now my main is 80 and he's still at Zuldrak, with Sholazar, Icecrown and Storm peaks untouched. But it's a little hard measuring my total gain, because I've been spending a LOT of gold for gems and enchants for Naxx. But it pays off. When you're geared in Naxx epics, questing in Zuldrak becomes MUCH easier.

Dailies, especially with a regular flyer, will be way slower than just regular questing.

I finished my toons with a little of Sholazar left to do,then when I was ready I did IceCrown at 80 and the Gold just rolled in.
Doing every Q I come across and collecting all loot I can make about 5000G in a 8-12 hour session,(includes selling everything I grab,[NO Disenchanting]),its almost criminal how easy the gold floods in.
You will have to do all these Q anyway to unlock the Dailies there.
If you can get your mining up to do Saronite that helps a great deal too.
Also not as efficient but if you need a little gold fast you could always do Q'Danas for a little injection.
Hope this helps :)

I did 2 quests from 70-80, I only ran dungeons.

Since I dinged 80, I've done Storm Peaks, Icecrown, Zul'drak and Borean Tundra. Right now I am sitting on 60k gold with my epic flyings (had them since 70). I've made at least 35k of them with dailies and quests in those zones. I've dicenchanted every green/blue that I came by, so I could've made even more for vendoring that. I got 400 enchanting on 4 shamans and a bank tab filled with enchanting mats and alot of other stuff! You get alot of disenchating blues in instances!

I have to admit, that it was REALLY tough to stay in dungeons the last 3 levels .. very tempting to go and quest. The money that it would reward me, kept me going! I don't regret it :) I think you'll like it aswell, since you can always use gold on something fun!

EDIT:
Screenshot of the guild tab (have alot more Dream Shards than that)! I didn't even calculate all of the green/blues that dropped in instances, since I gave it all to my paladin friend, that we made Realm First! Enchanter! :)

Hey Creazil - what inventory mod are you using in that screenshot? I like how it separates the different types of items...

Cheers,

looks like ArkInventory. Another one which let you do this would be baggins.

Cheers,
S.Yes, ArkInventory as olipcs said .. I've removed the title bar and some other bars, so it doesn't look that big.

Dragonblight

Scholazar Basin

An aside: pre-77 I would run Dragonblight, Grizzly Hills and Zul'Drak, in that order. Once you are 77 and can fly in Northrend zones, places like Sholazar Basin and even Zul'Drak become far easier to navigate. Grizzly HIlls isn't so bad on a ground mount, but Dragonblight is less of a hassle IMO.

This topic reminds me that if I do not have the cash for fast flying mounts by 70, I will run instances to 80 in Northrend. Any questing I do before then will be to fill any gear gaps or grab a particular upgrade (ie, the Ampitheater quests at 75). Questing at 80 in Northrend is like Blizzard handing you your very own pocket gold farmer. And that doesn't even include dailies...
