FYI The video is 833MB - I wanted to preserve the size/quality as much as possible so people could see what was going on.

Please download instead of stream if possible, since its a large file and watching it multiple times will eat into my monthly bandwidth :)

Please give me comments on the video, particularly the quality and if theres any issues since I didn't even have time to watch it myself yet. The audio isn't great quality but that is how FRAPS recorded it - I will probably make another copy soon with dubbed music audio with possibly some strategy overlays and maybe smaller or worse quality to cut down on size.

Basically I've done 5 timed strat runs the last 5 days and ended with 4 minutes on the clock (after killing the corruptor) each time, and I wanted to make a video of the run since a lot of people requested it. I did this run with a DK tank and 4 elemental shamans (resto shmesto!)

Hopefully this will help people out with strategies and to see how I do it. This particular run gave me fairly favorable spawns but I did complete a timed run with 3 minutes left after killing the corruptor even having to run completely across the map 8 out of 10 waves.

nice vid, question though. on your party cast bars on xperl theres a green triangle that moves left to right. what is that?

Thats an option in Xperl to show a basic threat meter. The further to the right those green bars go the more threat each shaman is generating ;) Once a green thing goes all the way to the right it turns red when the shaman pulls aggro.

Its very basic (not as advanced as Omen) but I find it much easier to follow since I'm already looking over there anyway and I don't have to install it on my 4 clones.

Yeah as I was saying before, its really random for me, but I have had to run back and forth for every single wave and made it to the corruptor with 3 minutes to spare so its definitely still doable.

So, anyone know what happens when you kill the corruptor and you already have 5 drakes? Do the reins even drop? If they do drop, can they be used for anything? (Disenchanted?) I don't need any more gear from this instance and am debating just not ever running it again if I can't get anything out of it (2 abyss shards would be incentive).

they drop, they can't be DE'd, you can loot them but you can't use them. You still get an extra badge. I actually sold loot off Malganis last night, I cleared up to him with 2 mins left and just ported my mage to dalaran, spammed in trade Malganis loot, and got a buyer in a few minutes. I charged 50g for the right to enter my instance and 400g if the buyer wanted the epic item off Malganis (fortunately the tank shield dropped which is exactly what he wanted).

I might do this for other instances too, just sell loot off final bosses, almost all of them are 4 mannable. Could do bronze drake, but I am always worried that something will go wrong and I wont make the timer and I will look stupid (lol).

I only run CoT now when its the daily, and rarely try to make the timer anymore (have had 5 drakes for a few weeks now), its a lot more fun just screwing around and exploring the little buildings while the timer counts down (lol). I've also 4 manned it twice now with enough time to kill the drake, so you can definitely do that for alts/friends.

Damn, I ask 500g for a timed oc boost for achievement (I do require the fifth to have done oculus). Maybe I should change my price. :P

It depends on your server economy. Also the OC achievement is just an achievement, no? Timed Strat is an achievement plus a drake which otherwise would cost 1600g to buy from wyrmrest accord (red one), so I think 800-1000g is a fair price.

Can you elaborate a bit on your healing setup? It looked like you would hit 4xHealing Wave as needed?

It also seemed at points on trash that the shammies sometimes had different targets, are you actually targeting per shammy or was that just an accidently "target, oops wrong target, retarget" and during that one of the shammies got a cast in on the wrong mob?

Very fair price. As you know, the wyrmrest accord one requires exalted reputation in addition to the 1600g. :-)

It also seemed at points on trash that the shammies sometimes had different targets, are you actually targeting per shammy or was that just an accidently "target, oops wrong target, retarget" and during that one of the shammies got a cast in on the wrong mob?As far as healing yes I would hit a 4x lesser healing wave, but since it doesn't /stopcasting, it will start casting the lesser healing wave for each shaman at the end of their current cast. This makes it possible sometimes to just do 2 or 3 if I don't need all 4.

The shamans all had the same target each time. Part of the confusion is the 3x searing totems I always drop - it looks sort of like lava burst when they fire at random targets, and sometimes the graphic for chain lightning looks like its hitting a different mob first when actually its hitting that mob 2nd or 3rd :)

Great vid Hachoo! I'm still in the Outlands so it's nice seeing an instance in Northrend that is ran by someone who knows what they're doing.

I tried this today with my pally,3 mage healer group. I finished the 3rd boss with 2min left. I didnt have enough time. I guess if I want to really rush through I need to pop my elemental everytime its up. I got 3 epic rings out of there so I may be done with that instance for awhile. It was nice watching your video.

For me, starting out, the trick was really not to loot anything except the first boss. Now that I've practiced a bunch I'm sure I could still complete it with looting everything, but stopping to loot each mob plus bosses probably takes at least 2 minutes, maybe more.

When I did it I didnt die at all and went through each boss. I did loot the bosses so that cut into my time. I have decided trying for those mounts is just not worth it. I can buy 5 red dragons and to me I dont care if I am flying on a brown turd. To me a mount is to get from point a to b. If I run strat again I will loot everything. All the drops I wanted out of there are looted to my toons who needed them. I may never go back there.

True but for me the instance was easy, took 30 minutes total x 5 (so 2.5 hours) to get all 5 drakes, and buying 5 red drakes costs 7600g which takes way way way longer than 2.5 hours to make :)

Well I made a true attempt at this today with my new DK Tank and crew and I was so close......ARGH

Anyways I had him to about half life before my timer ran out. I also had some pretty crappy runs back and forth as well. It also doesn't help I lost a shammy on the guantlet near the end so I only took 2 DPS shammies my resto and DK tank into the final battle. (I recincarnated my shammy but didn't heal him in time and he got 1 shotted.....grrr)

A little better gear and some better pulls and I have this down!!! Again I must stress how much easier this instance was with DK tank and a little change to my DPS macro's. I am pulling like 2200 with the 3 of them without even trying now and that is with all the random shit you need to heal through and stuff.

Well I made another attempt last night and I got some lucky spawns and some retarded parts of the encounters that wasted some huge amount of time, but with 1 min left on my timer I got my first Bronze Drake. I had all my shammies up this time in the end and engaged him with 2 mins left and spanked him hard.
