Edit: Upload is done! http://www.vonderbecke.net/files/wow/movies/Hachoo-TimedCoS.mpg

Edit again: Another copy of the movie, this time with dubbed audio and compressed with DivX. The file size is MUCH smaller (~285MB) and I think the quality is still plenty good enough:

http://www.vonderbecke.net/files/wow/movies/Hachoo-TimedCoS-music.avi

Please download instead of stream if possible, since its a large (833MB) file and watching it multiple times will eat into my monthly bandwidth :)

Please give me comments on the video, particularly the quality and if theres any issues since I didn't even have time to watch it myself yet. The audio isn't great quality but that is how FRAPS recorded it - I will probably make another copy soon with dubbed music audio with possibly some strategy overlays and maybe smaller or worse quality to cut down on size.

So I have a full video I took today in high quality of me doing a timed CoS run and getting a bronze drake. Tried uploading it to youtube and after hours letting it upload it told me the video was too long and it wouldn't process (~30 minutes - but I could have swore I've seen hour long youtube videos).

Anyway, whats another streaming video site I could put the video on? I can just upload it to my web provider and let you guys download it but its 640MB and I thought most people would rather just stream it. Input appreciated, thanks.

You have to be Youtube PArtner to get over 10Minute videos. Maybe Wegame.com ?! don't know if there is a time limit. Filefront maybe ?!

Hmmm looks like wegame.com only accepts 20 minute videos.

Well I'll probably upload the full 640MB file tonight so people that want to see it can download it, and then ill split it into 3 chunks for youtube :)

I prefer to download for the quality and you had a good host with good speeds. Looking forward to seeing it.

My guys are sitting on 110 badges to upgrade some gear, which i think i need to do to complete the run in under 25. I usually am working my way through that last hall when time runs out so any help i can glean from a vid would be awesome.

Alright I let the video compress into mpg format last night at best quality - unfortunately this means the video is 833MB but I felt in this case the extra quality is worth it. It is uploading to my web provider right now and should be done in ~4 hours or so at which point I will post the link :) I recorded this one at a higher than normal size/quality than my other vids.

I will post the link in this thread as soon as its ready, hope it will help people :)

Well unfortunately its uploading slower than I anticipated :) It's at 616MB right now and it's an 833MB file, so its looking like it will be at least another couple hours, but I will post the link and update the thread the moment it is done :)

excellent video.

the first time I've seen Caverns of time III and now I'm exciting to get there, too.

some more details about your group (like setup and talent tree for the chars) and some details about your
playstyle (like "all 4 shamans dps and cast LHW on the tank if needed" etc..) would be excellent.

thx for sharing this video :-)

Video was great and good quality, thanks! I am now convinced my problems have been bad luck/timing and I think I will try getting my drakes again. I had almost the same time checkpoints you did, so I dont think I will have to do much more to get on track!

Quick details about the team...

DK + 4 Elemental Shaman

DK Talent build: http://www.wowarmory.com/character-talents.xml?r=Burning+Legion&n=Ellianaa

Shaman 1 Talent build: http://www.wowarmory.com/character-talents.xml?r=Burning+Legion&n=Haachoo

Shaman 2-4 talent build: http://www.wowarmory.com/character-talents.xml?r=Burning+Legion&n=Hachu

My playstyle is really just instinct. I don't have any hardcoded castsequence. All 4 shamans DPS, and I simply start spamming my LHW on tank button as my tank needs healing (it does not /stopcasting, it just picks up after the current cast). I use chain heal x4 as well to heal my shamans, each shaman chain heals the next shaman in the sequence with the last shaman chain healing the first shaman (not the tank).

I open every fight with Flameshock + Lava burst as you can see, and then from there I do one of two things:

If its a 1-2 mob pull, I simply spam LB (and only LB) until the mobs are dead

If its 3+ mob pull, I use a castrandom:

/castrandom Lava Burst,Lightning Bolt,Chain Lightning,Purge

Aside from that as I said above I play on instinct :) I've gotten to the point where I know my team very well so I know when to heal, when to use cooldowns like icebound fortitude, etc.

What's the compression codec, Hachoo? I'm getting an error ....Hmmm are you using Windows Media Player? Its just standard mpeg-2 - I used Sony Vegas without specifying any special codec.

OMG Awesome !!!

Gratz for the Bronze Drake .. You deserve it ... :)
If I were you, I would have looted the mobs, at least the bosses :)

I wish I could accomplish someting like this in a near future ...

and BTW, what's your system setup?
Are you running FTL or [focus] setup ?

thanks

thanksI do go back and loot the bosses (and any remaining mobs) after I kill Mal'ganis. Looting everything takes too long during the timed run - not looting anything except the first boss is the key to making the run so fast :)

Another fun point, any corpses with blue items on them will stay spawned forever so when I run back through if I see a regular corpse I know it has a blue item :)

I am using a focus setup (can't be bothered to go through the hassle of FTL setup since I don't need it really, and honestly I hate being tied down to a single piece of software so I don't want to utilize anything that is only compatible with one piece of software.

So, all my shamans /focus my DK (I have buttons to refocus any of my shamans as well).

I'm working on this video some more and experimenting with compression, etc... I have the video compressed using DivX now at 444MB at roughly the same quality level. The audio is still uncompressed PCM though. Apparently Vegas 8 does not play nice with lame so rendering with mp3 audio from the get-go doesn't work. I was trying to use virtualdub to only compress the audio stream to mp3 with the lame codec and leave the video stream untouched (direct stream copy). However, I found that even with direct stream copy for video it seems to make the video quality worse when I use virtual dub - not sure why since it isn't supposed to be touching the video stream.

Anyone know why this might be? After passing the video through virtualdub the size drops to 190MB but the video looks worse - it would be nice if I could get the video to approximately that size with good quality! Or, does anyone know of an mp3 codec I can use WITH sony vegas that doesn't break, then I could just render with mp3 audio from the get-go :)

I would like to re-up this video at ~200MB for everyone that might want to keep it and not waste almost a gigabyte of space. Plus the copy I am working on now has some good music instead of the actual WoW sounds :)

Shaitan256
02-04-2009, 04:38 PM
It was kinda refreshing to hear the Wow Sounds, because you don't here always this spell not ready things (hope I don't lie now ?!) Was also nice to hear Arthas Speaking, I loved it felt really cool. I couldn't see it on my own, and you were going through the bosses like a hot knife through butter :)

I'm not that compressing kinda guy sorry.

Added another copy of the video to the main post. I have dubbed over the whole video with various music selections and compressed the video with DivX retaining decent quality but dropping the filesystem to ~285MB if anyone is interested :)

I loot when I do my timed runs and finish with time to spare.

Hachoo
02-06-2009, 11:26 AM
Obviously I could do that now with 4-5 minutes to spare. The point of the video is to show people how to complete a timed run. For someone just starting out, looting everything will likely cost them the time they need to complete it.

Awesome video! I watched it through a couple times and learned a few things. Thanks! Would you consider a DK to be a superior tank over a prot pally when 5boxing with 4 other shaman? It seems like your DK was able to hold aggro on the mobs quite well!

It depends what you prefer there are several threads about that but here a little sum up:
DK
Less DMG because of high Armor Multiplicators
Pet
No Mana Use
+13% Magical dmg

Pally
Blessings (Flexible)
Auras (More than 1 and flexible)
Easier too handle (for some)

There are many things pro and con, as I said it very depends on what you prefer.

@ Hachoo
It's kinda insane how much of a difference the Divx AVI has against MPG before, Quality is quite the same and you've edited music into it, and you got just a 3rd or a 4th out of it (size), really nice.

Edit2:(For the first video)
Anyone else feels like watchig Diablo 2? I mean these "Uhh" "Rargh" sounds from the Zombies, I think they are the same as the ones from d2^^

It seems like your DK was able to hold aggro on the mobs quite well!I definitely consider a DK far superior to a paladin when boxing with 4 shamans. Besides the +13% damage modifier, the DK actually does quite a bit more damage (both single and multi target) than a paladin IMO. Bladed armor helps a ton with this, I have 2800 ap in tanking gear with a tanking spec and my DK can routinely pull 1500-1600 DPS on trash without hardly trying (If I actually dumped RP more, used death coil, etc, I would get up to 2000 maybe).

I just like boxing with a DK more, and I think a DK is way more fun when single boxing as well, so if I ever stop multiboxing I can make my DK my main and not regret it (can't stand playing a paladin as a main).

Really enjoyed the video, Hachoo.

Quick question: can you list the addons you're using in the video? There are a couple that look like they'd be very helpful.

Thanks!

Thanks!Sure, off the top of my head, the addons that matter are: ctmod, XPerl, Multiboxer v2, carbonite (the minimap on the right), deadly boss mods (gives various warnings during boss fights etc), and titan panel (the bar at the top that lists gold, bags, xp, framerate, etc). I also have atlas and atlas loot installed but hardly ever use them.

I'm also using Auctioneer, and some other ones that aren't really visible in the video. Xperl does just about everything you would see visibly on the screen (my unit frame, the party frame, the mini-threat meter, etc). ctmod I just use for the buff organization on the upper right and the action bars (I've used it for my action bars for >3 years).

On my slaves I only have ctmod and multiboxer v2 installed, nothing else. I try to avoid using too many mods because I personally don't really like being bound to an addon.

Thanks for the addon info. Is your buff timer mod part of the ctmod? I've been using sbf, and I like the one you are using much better.

Anyway, again, nice video--I'm reactivating my team now, since I already have an 80 DK and a set of shammies sitting at 61. I stopped playing them a good while ago, so I'll be working on getting the rust off. Seeing your team in action has me looking forward to getting back into it. :)

Yes the buff mod is part of ctmod :) I didn't like it at first but now that I'm used to it I like it.

I really enjoyed the video the quality is great.
It also inspires me to get my team leveled so I can also try some of this content. You make it look so simple if only that were true.
