after last nights brawl, which was a bit more fun for horde then friday night :D, a few of us sat in vent trying to figure out a solution that would make it more fun for an all out multi-boxer battle.

we considered all on one side, but even if we did that, unless we were 70+, trying to kill a town boss while facing the 80 players would be suicide. not to mention, most people are not interested in rolling new characters on a new server... and leveling them up to 70+ is too much work and time away from their home server.

so we came up with two thoughts that seemed to get some positive feedback.

24 hour pass
--
the 24 hour pass would allow users to take their main character (should be available for any character) and have them appear on any low pop server of their choice. the character would come with their full gear and their bags, but would not able to able interact with the AH, mailbox or trade. at the end of the 24 hours, or maybe a click of a button, the character would be moved back to their home server. the 24 hour pass would also be on a timer, like 4 days, which would limit the load on the server. this would allow for users to participate in battles with their friends on other realms

what's in it for Blizzard?

this would allow people to shift off busy servers to low pop servers during peak times, which Blizzard would probably enjoy. it would also reduce the number of characters players have scattered around on different servers. (i do this to play with friends on other realms). it would also reduce blizzard's need to implement anything like the 'create a 55 DK on any realm' kind of thing (they may have been considering the ability to create any race on any realm).

combat target dummy
--
the combat dummy is a personal favorite of mine from way back. the device would be either store bought or player(engineer) made. if i had one, i would be able to place it on the ground and adjust it's settings. as the owner, i would be the only one allowed to adjust the settings and move it. some of the settings could be:
the dummy should be user place-able like existing target dummies either the user can pick it up and use it again, or it stays in that spot for a time frame before evaporating (24 hrs would be nice) the dummy draws no NPC aggro; NPCs shouldn't even see it (that way it's not a benefit while doing a dungeon) the total 'health' of the dummy (9,999,999 max health would be nice) and various resistances which faction can damage/heal it a start, stop, dismiss, and reset button; start puts the dummy in 'on' mode allowing for it to take damage a 'start on' time that would allow for the user to set it to start at a certain time (ie: 8:00p server time) a timer at the end of which the dummy would stop receiving damage/healing if its health is drained, it should indicate that it is 'dead'; maybe a shower of light, flashing lights, a sound, fireworks, flags, whatever it should be a certain height, so a tauren could not easily hide it by sitting on it the user should be able to name it; the name does not have to be unique; names would be unchangeable while the dummy is 'on' it should be target-able via the name any player should be able to 'open' the statistics window from any visible distance the stats window would show total health, resistances, current health, dps, max dmg, hps, max heal, time left (or time until active), and time 'killed'

the reason i would like to have such a thing is that players could set up battles where the goal is to destroy/defend the target dummy. there could be one on either side of a field and the winner is the first to 'destroy' the others target dummy. this would provide for open field battles or battles within cities or any terrain you can imagine. or the battle could be a single target dummy and the defenders need to fight off the attackers.

what's in it for Blizzard?

the target dummy gives the user community another thing to do. a new game within the game, prolonging the life of wow and improving customer satisfaction

this is what i have. what are your thoughts?

They could make a new server that is solely for this and call it: THUNDERDOME

Is the dummny healable? Because priests have that glyph that heals the target for 6% of their hp when dispel is used on them. We wiped a horde raid by having 4-6 priests spamming dispel on the IF king.

i think you should be able to heal it, yes

think of it as a stationary player that you must keep alive (or kill depending on your mission). it cannot strike back or defend itself.

i think it'd be cool if you could make it so the die-res-advance thing was restricted to no more then a certain distance from the target. this way you could put one in a castle (like the castle just south east of razorhill), defend it, and the attackers would have to legitimately kill all the way to the target

Oh yea, forgot to mention, I LOVE that 24 hour pass idea. I think the H vs A bxers on blood furnace is a fantastic idea but I just really cbf lvling again lol. And I don't want to spend too much time away form my shammies. Being able to xfer them for a day would be fantastic. Hell, I'd even pay 5 bucks for it each account. This means I could also go to another server and camp my mate there then xfer back at the end of the day :P

Well, you know they wouldn't do it for free :( For me that would be $20 which is like half an hour or so working. Basically the time it takes to boot the computer, make a milo, sit down with co-workers and talk about the weekend while being distributed the jobs for the day.

The xfer would be there, and then back again, which is normally $15 each way but with a month cd.

i was thinking that people would transfer their characters weekly to lower pop servers to play with friends elsewhere. putting a 4 day timer on it just keeps it from being done constantly. the actual transfer is all computer driven, and since no bank is transferring, just items being held/worn, it should be easier

these both are genius!!

that 24 hr pass would be awesome, and it should defiantly have at least a 4 day CD so people don't abuse it.

i had an idea kind of like that target dummy thing before. i don't see why they wouldn't like this idea. it would even bee a cool new batleground, although ab is somewhat like this already. but allowing them to be mobile would allow for some epic world pvp with strategic goals!

great ideas guys!

I say do it. I think the 'temp-transfer' would be used by almost everyone. I think that there is a niche in the population of the game that would love the target dummy idea. I'm certainly not in that niche, but it's still got merit IMO.
