1800 in 5's, it's starting to look good~!

Got a chance to play some more 5's tonight. Games are much more enjoyable, somewhat of a short note - just wanted to say I hit 1800, got up to 1826 but fell back a bit :) I expect 2k easily by end of the season though!! hooza

grats, i'm still sucking in arena. Tried games with a druid. Druids aren't too bad but they super squishy.

GZ, you're again the first and I guess for the next time the only somewhat successful Boxer in the Arena.

... let's start with Gladiator :)

Congratulations Ellay!

I have also been doing better lately, but the personal rating is lagging behind a lot so haven't been able to upgrade to deadly yet.

They increased the range by 400 points on which they are giving more points for win and taking less away for a loss on avg. They said the high range last week was 2400 and changed it to 2800 this week by increasing the amount of gain/less loss per match. I believe that they are inflating points so that more people can gain higher teir pvp gear more easily, along with reducing the amount of rating needed to acquire the deadly items. Granted you still have to win half your games, but I think you will see that 1600-1700 is the new 1500 with a 50% win ratio.

Also, grats Ellay well played.

It does seem a bit easier to gain rating, also though my win% has gone way up after the patch due to some classes getting some much needed nerfs.

Yea we did more game's after hearing about the change's and hit 1835 pretty easily frankly but, just out of fear of a sudden loss streak we stopped playing since we dont have that many AP to spend anyways atm. Dropped 9 pts to 1826 and called it a night =).

Oh and one other thing, hunter's are freaking OP atm, be extremely cautious of any team with one in it. Detterence sucks so bad.

My fivebox is now 71. I imagine within the next two weeks ill ding 80.

By that time you should be +2k and will have met the requirements to put that "GROOVY!" footage you've been stocking up and show us all how its done.

Im certain that many things are still the same tank and spank type stratedgy, but im interested to see how you handle new class abilities as well as how you utilize some of our Shaman's new abilities. All things done, there's no doubt "YOU DA' MAN, HOMIE!"

If your the perfect example of how to be a "The Greatest Arena Multiboxer of ALL Time", Im almost certain I should win the award for "Biggest Talent Leach/Patch Timing Blizzard Whore." Things were at such a state of RIDICULOUSNESS post 3.0 and pre-WoTLK of release that I couldn't find the persistance to continue. I started fresh, and when the leveling grind got boring, logging onto the forums to see everybody QQ made me feel better.

Glad to see thinks are looking brighter! And I'm ecstatic that its all gettin' straightened out before I hit 80.

Cheers,
Elektric

Ya... I went like 20-2 today or something crazy like that. 1917 rating, almost in the top 20 :)
The losses were due to me wearing full pve gear on the first match, and my nostromo gamepad freezing up on like the 4th match.

My team is 12-12 but my rating is low 1400's. How does that make sense?

Ellay

Ya it doesn't, I just did 10 games on my dk's and lost like 20 points a game. It was bad and crazy at the same time and ugh, so I logged on my shammies and stomped some face to feel better :P

ya you blew right into the 1900s, grats

There are some new post explaining the new HR system which actually make sense.

If you are on a team and you are getting small point increases for a win and large point decreases for a loss, it is because your matchmaking (hidden) rating is lower or higher than your Team Rating. Here is an example:

You start a new team and start playing at 1500 team rating. Due to previous game history, your matchmaking (hidden) rating has you listed as a 1200 bracket player already because it persists regardless of team swaps. The system will then match you against 1200 rated players due to your matchmaking rating telling it that you should be fighting opponents of this skill level. If you then proceed to play quite a few games, and end up going half and half with wins/losses, you will make your way down to 1200 team rating. Why?

Look at it like this: your team rating is 1500, yet you are fighting 1200 rated opponents. If you are winning 50% and losing 50% of your games, it means you are fighting on an equal level with 1200 rated players, not 1500. Remember, a 300 point difference means few points in a win and big points for a loss.

Under the old system, what would happen in this case is that a 1200 bracket quality player would form a new team and lose 50 games straight plummeting down directly to 1200 team rating and then start going 50/50. Under the new system, the difference is that a 1200 rated player starting a new team at 1500 rating would still move towards 1200 team rating, but win half of his games in the process.

Equally, this works in reverse.

We've seen questions along the lines of "How can I go 61-50 and end up with 2100 team rating?" Well, the same rule set applies. Upon creating a fresh 1500 rated team, the matchmaking (hidden) rating remains unchanged indicating that the player is in the 2000ish bracket. When the system then matches your newly formed arena team against opponents, it uses your matchmaking rating to match you up against other players in the 2000ish bracket. If you then go with a 50/50 wins to loss ratio, it means you are playing at a 2100 rating level by beating half the 2100 rated teams you face and losing the other half.

The effect of this is that your point gain will yield numbers that results in your team rating moving up to the same level of opponents you are going 50/50 with.

Hope this clarifies some of the confusion.

It is likely that is due to your opposing team also
having a low matchmaking (hidden) rating and a higher team rating,
perhaps after a team reset.

Imagine this, the players in both team A and B are 1200 rated
players. The teams are then reset to 1500 team rating and both teams
queue up against each other. The situation we then have is the
following:

Team A: 1200 matchmaking rating and 1500 team rating.

Team B: 1200 matchmaking rating and 1500 team rating.

Lets say that you face this same team 50 times in a row with a 50% win rate. The end result of this is that both
teams will end up with around 1200 team rating. Why? Because this is
the same situation as described in the previous post happening to both
teams at once.

In short, both teams are in reality 1200 rated teams due to
matchmaking rating, and going 50/50 with an equally ranked team will
ensure that both teams' team rating tries to match the respective
matchmaking (hidden) ratings.

Basically pino, the hidden rating rates you at a 1400ish player going 50/50 and until you go on a win streak proving you dont belong in the 1450s(ish) the system will team to keep you there. With 5-6 point win and 10-11 point losses.Since you probably played a number of games with your shaman when the shamans were the suck and that made your HR avg out to 1450s. You are being hurt by the bad system before the changes.

It looks like some teams are getting it easy with this hidden rating, I barely gain any points for a win and lose a ton for a loss. Doesn't make a lot of sense :(

Teams that have a high HR and are moving there way up from a fresh team will look like they are getting a free ride.....10-15pt wins and 3-6pt losses. However, they already have a high HR, so its just the system pushing them up there faster. yes I believe they are getting a free ride of sorts.

At the start of last week my Personal rating was 1508. After winning half of my games last week my personal rating is mid 1400's. I guess all the time I was getting wtf pwnd it dropped me down. Now its going to take winning a lot to get back to normal. This sucks :cursing:
