I've been trying to gather some footage for the community, but Fraps has crashed my WoW client 3 times now, notably when I turn it on in the middle of an Arena match which isn't exactly a good thing since I can't rejoin back in the game.

Anyone else having this issue? I am using the latest build of fraps.

I'm using the latest build (I think) and have had no issues as I just recorded a couple heroic runs (a couple posts down) a few days ago. No issues at all turning it on and off in the middle of a dungeon.

On vista 64 I've had enough fraps stability issues that I don't run it unless I'm specifically after movie footage. I certainly wouldn't run it during pvp.

Doing Vista 64 here and the only problem I've had was some times my UI goes kind of nuts and I guess it Shrinks the screen (But keeps the resolution the same size) so when I go to use my mouse to click anything, I have to move the cursor pretty far away from the button to even click it. It's happened about 2 times so far.

No issues here, Vista64.

Maybe a stupid question, but you are recording the vids to a different HD than what your WoWs are installed to right?

Only thing I noticed on Fraps in Vista64 was that I manually have to set the affinity of the Fraps.exe and fraps64.dat processes in task manager. When Fraps loads it always assigns like the third core to each process. Which means I get horrible fps in WoW almost to the point of it crashing. But once I assign both processes all cores it works great.

Yeah, me. I crash and burn as soon as I hit the record key :/

Not sure if I have the latest version, I'm not crashing though. I could check later at home if issue is still not resolved. :)

I have issues as well. Except Fraps itself crashes. I push record, and all I get is a 1second clip of my mouse on a black background... :(

I just frapsed at least an hour of footage in Naxx yesterday...

Fraps + WoW (1 client) + Vista x64 on a quad core machine with 4g ram.

No problems at all, was recording at the max frame rate.

On the xp64 , the fraps always crashes the wow client.
But since i run it on the vista 64 and disable the sound recording , it had never crash my client again.

Maybe this is useful to you.

My boxing arena team meet the 1903 in 2.4.3 and 1918 in 3.0.5 CWOW . With the fraps running most of the time.

FWIW I just yesterday recorded an entire Timed CoS run (~30 minutes) at high quality 50FPS with sound and had no crashes.
