**LOCKED THREAD: in order to keep the information from getting confused this close to game time.

Even though each weeks event might result in a huge, exciting slugfest, I think we should have a win/loss goal. For this coming weekend, I propose the following goal(s)

Teams assemble at 9:00 PM Eastern time, and start moving to the goal when ready.

Starting at 9:30 PM Eastern, or any time thereafter, the attack can start.

Goal: Friday January 30, 2009 - Horde attacks Goldshire, and attempts to kill the Innkeeper. Alliance tries to prevent the kill. IF the Horde has killed the Innkeeper prior to 10:00 PM (EDIT10:30 PM)(option 10:30), they "Win" (EDIT: will proceed to Stormwind to execute the Alliance defended Flight Master, and have until 11:30 PM Eastern time to succeed. If successful, they "win"), otherwise they "Fail". Since this is/was intended to be a Death Knight friendly event, stealthing to attack any NPC, including the Innkeeper (EDIT: or Flight Master) is not allowed, although it should be allowed at part of the PVP conflict.

Goal: Saturday January 31, 2009 - Alliance attacks Razor Hill, and attempts to kill the Innkeeper. Horde tries to prevent the kill. IF the Alliance has killed the Innkeeper prior to 10:00PM (EDIT: 10:30 PM)(Option 10:30) they "Win"(EDIT: will proceed to Orgimmar to execute the Horde defended Flight Master, and have until 11:30 PM Eastern time to succeed. If successful, they "win"), otherwise they "Fail" See above about Stealth.

Discussion:
1. Ending times, is half an hour enough, or should we go for the hour. (EDIT: voting seems to be leaning towards an hour for each quest, in keeping with the epic nature of this conflict)
2. Does this sound like a reasonable win/fail goal for our first weekend? The Alliance Innkeeper is somewhat better protected by the entry chokepoint, but Razor Hill has more and stronger guards. If even one attacker manages to slip through, the Innkeeper might be toast, so some burden is on the defenders to defend, rather than just have a massive duel.

In either case, as soon as the alarm goes out that those cities are under attack, our attackers are likely to be swarmed by more than just our opposing multiboxing friends. It will likely be a bloodbath! 8o Even such a simple task is going to be very difficult for level 60 toons, but should be very entertaining to watch and particapate in.

Depending on how it goes, we can scale the difficulty up or down in the following weeks.

Well, what do you think?

EDITED to make the quest two steps, with a difficult, but possible first stage, and a very difficult to nearly impossible second stage. Well, what DO you think?

this is definitely a great idea. the only problem is the intended target is too squishy. just overwhelm the guards with numbers and a single DK can slip through and one-shot him.

i would like to think that maybe the flight-master would be a good target. he's not too squishy, and you need to pass loads of guards. good town fighting possible as well.

having this in mind, i went for a test run to see if i could easily waste goldshire myself (everything is under level 25) and maybe make it into the city.

well... i made it to the first vendor on the south edge of goldshire... one-shotted with DG+icy. then a 75 elite guard popped up right in front of my 5x 58s.. this was the result:

i didn't have my pets up at the time... but i figure once i'm over 60 i may be able to take him. and if there are 10 of us, about 50 DKs, we'd make quick work of any guards. add the other multi-boxers and it might be more interesting.

oh... and i did manage to kill the innkeeper before dying.

thoughts?

How about combining those goals.

IF the attackers can kill the Innkeeper by 10:00 (a half hour after beginning the attack) [option 10:30], then the attackers proceed to the flightmaster, with another hour to complete that "quest"? That gives us an [easy to hard} quest, followed by a {difficult to nearly impossible} quest. We really don't know how much help/interference we're going to be dealing with from the general populace, and the defenders have a real edge, since numbers and levels will be nearly equal, but the attackers have a closer graveyard (i think ???) or do both factions rez at the same graveyard?

The real PVP players probably have a better grasp of what might happen, I'm just guessing here, but hope to structure it so that everyone has a good time.

Man, I'm getting excited already 8o

Meening the defenders will have an edge with graveyard placement, its a 20 seccond run for ally, and 2-3 minutes from estvale for horde

I assume that Razor Hill will have a similar home team advantage? Alliance would rez where, in Ratchet maybe? If so, that's a LONG walk, but then so is Eastvale Lumber camp to Goldshire.

That is the general GY. Alliance rez there if they die in Orgrimmar, Not sure if they rez there if they die in razor hill.

The first post in this thread has been heavily edited, to reflect what I believe is the current thinking about my proposed goals for this weekends events. Check it out, and see what you think. TIA

The first event, with the Horde attacking, and Alliance defending starts in just over twelve hours. Since no one responded to my edited first post, can I assume that we have a workable goal for this weekends events?

Team Plethora still has to locate about half of our people, but we'll do our best with those we have! See you all there 8o

i believe we have some workable goals. this is what we have:

9p EST (8p server time) ... rally time for both sides.

alliance will probably rally around goldshire.

horde should probably rally around stonard, as that is the closest flight path. it's less then a 5 minute run to stormwind, with only 1 town in the way to worry about (darkshire). horde should move out from stonard around 9:15p EST (8:15p server time) watch your flight times from ebon hold... can take 12+ minutes.. leave early. horde should do one final rally just before 9:30p (8:30p server time) just south of goldshire (there is a clearing in a bit of a valley with a big log)

HORDE: DO NOT GO AFTER THE INNKEEPER UNTIL 9:30p (8:30p server time)

attacker goal:
a) kill innkeeper in goldshire
b) after innkeeper is killed, kill the flight master in stormwind ... you have 60 minutes from start to accomplish the task

defender goal:
a) keep the flight master alive to win
b) keep the innkeeper alive to bog attacker down in goldshire

there is also a vent server set up ( iridium.typefrag.com : 47914 ) ... jump in to help coordinate the fun (i'm KC)

6:45h and counting.... see you there.

(i'll echo this in a standalone post so it doesn't get lost)
