Hi all,

I tried triple boxing 3 mages a while ago using keyclone. I tried questing/grinding....but only got to level 12 before getting bored and giving up. I still occassionaly used keyclone for the odd boost through a dungeon or something, but nothing major.

Last week I rolled a Pally. I quested to level 8 then started using my main - a destro warlock to boost through dungeons. I've done this until he's now lvl 22 and I've also respecced the warlock to demo for greater survivablity when soloing.

I'm now thinking of what my options are from this point on :
- Do I continue to boost this way....and if I do this, what level does it become more efficient to start questing?
- Do I start to quest now? I've picked up a few nice items from instances so that should help a bit.

I was also considering getting an RAF account and levelling another class with the Pally. However if I was doing this, again, as there would only be a max of 3 players, I assume there would be a point where it would be more efficient to switch over to questing. Is there an easier way of being able to loot or use things without having to alt tab? The alt tabbing isn't actually too bad as I have a dual monitor setup that I can run in windowed mode, but it's still a pain...and would probably cause me to get bored in the future and stop it again.

Cheers,
Ragawaga

RagawagaQuesting is generally pretty efficient, especially if you use a leveling guide 1-70, unless you have 5 for dungeon runs, or a high level like your lock (especially if you just use your pet, and run ungrouped, so the alt gets all of the exp.)

For looting, what I do on my 3 is set the two alts to pass on loot, and then the lead picks up everything, except the extra cloth in Northrend on the tailoring alt. Note that quest items are *not* passed on, just junk. It's a heck of a lot more efficient that way, and every once in a while you have to turn it off, especially for rep items, like vyrkul bones in Northrend. Just get your main the biggest bags you can, they fill up fast, especially if your main gathers.

Keyclone has a windowed mode thingy (sorry, I'm a Mac user), doesn't it?

Thanks for the response :)

Yeah, I run both WoW instances in windowed mode. I have a 28" widescreen for the 80 lock...and a 17" for the alt.

I bought the Zygor guide on the day of release (used that to get the lock from 41 onwards) so a questing guide is fine. My only issue for for multi box questing was the looting of quest items. When I was doing the 3 mages, it was a pain having to focus on one of the other windows to loot...also the occassions where you had to right click something or speak to a mob just got annoying for me and that's why I gave up in the end.

Is there any way of making it easy for the window not in focus to speak to quest givers, loot quest items and right click on quest objectives?

two things to try. There is a multi-boxing guide here and works great.

Get Jamba, helps with all the other stuff (other than moving and attacking)

Ragawaga,

I am sort of in the same boat as you, I have keyclone, a couple of accounts that I still maintain actively, and I decided to give the Recruit A Friend a try (since it wasn't retroactive to when I referred myself 2 months before the promotion). Linked 2 trial accounts to my main WotLK account and started up a draenei shaman and two human mages. I used the mage (non BC account, didn't think about that) to summon the shaman, and off we went. I have about 90 minutes of /played time on the three and they are level 11, and haven't even finished up the initial round of Goldshire quests. My plan is to get them up to 60, then use the 30 levels from each non BC account to make a fourth 60, and transfer to my other LK account. Depending on how fast this goes, I may actually do a second trio to get my group up to a full box of 5. By using three, not only does it maximize the group xp and RAF benefits, but it's not so overwhelming from a beginning MB standpoint. Since they will remain vanilla WoW accounts (the two RAF trials), I won't be able to make a 5 shaman Alliance team, but I can use the grant a level on my BC account to grow the shaman group.

Well, that's my plan right now. I tried to upgrade one of the trial accounts last night, got an error and found three pending charges for $19.99 on my CC statement this morning online. Oops. Once they clear I'll upgrade them and go from there. I simply threw this in as you mentioned in your original post about the RAF program. Seriously, if you can do it, I would suggest it, especially if you're running less than a 5 man MB group. You literally turn in 2 quests in Northshire Abbey and you are level 2. Also there is a 10% bonus rep gain during the 90 day RAF, which I didn't realize until I checked out Blizz's FAQ on it.

Thanks for the info BigSmitty. The progress so far is that I dinged 30 on the Pally last night. Having the level 80 demo lock and SM from level 20 makes it really easy. I've just been doing each instance in exactly the same way...tag each mob with the syphon life DOT....have the demon on defensive and just keep moving through the instance...not stopping to loot. The pally is on /follow, but using keyclone for the times where follow may break or he gets some aoe damage...alt+2 is healing himself...and then back off again. With all 4 wings of the SM, I've not met the 5 reset limit yet so can pretty much grind for as long as I can put up with it.

So currently I'm thinking that I might just hold off with any other changes to this at the moment. I reckon I'll be able to get the pally to some point between 40 and 50 before I need to change my tactic in the instances...but I can cross that bridge when I come to it.

What I might do is when I get to 60...I'll roll another character and do the same thing...get that one to 60 and then start dual boxing them...but that's a long way away yet :)
